Words and A Couple of Kittens

Although I had some sewing time over the weekend...
as you could see in my last post, I did also have Evie time too!
She is pretty excited about little kittens!

(boy)
And amazingly, they are so good with her...
and despite the photos, she is really gentle with them too.
(looks like we finally found a way to keep them still)

(girl)
We still haven't come to an agreement on the names.
I'm holding my ground to NOT name them
after two fish.
Animated fish.
I'm not even going to write the names...
I know you can guess.
I had wanted  Chloe and  Simon
or
Clover and Oliver.
I was thinking something English... along with the new Prince being named.
But simpler.

So, the photos in yesterday's post were a mixture of
blocks I was catching up on from my Bees Knees Quilting bee.
I was happy to catch up a bit there!
Also, a little glimpse of a new Schnibbles... yes, that's right...
I am trying to squeak in under the wire with that!
Also, the new project... that's when Evie showed up with her mom.
We wanted to work on making a Weekender Bag.
There was one person who guessed right on that!!!
Instead of making our own piping though, we both found vintage piping to use.
Yeah!
We have a trip coming up on Friday... going to the Long Beach
International Quilt Show!
It's going to be so much fun!
Just my DIL and me!
Oh, and my LAQ too!

as you can see...

I am not having any luck getting a good picture of the kittens!

I will work on that some more

No Sewing Here

All those plans I had and projects I thought I
wanted to do...
got put on the back burner.
My two sons that were on a 70 mile hike in
the high country of Sierra National Forest...
(Pacific Crest Trail/John Muir Trail)
finished their trip 2 days early.
So I got to spend time with
family... and since I have no
photos to share of my own today...
I thought I could share some of their pictures of the trip
with you.

It's such beautiful country.

Elevations were as high as 12,000 feet.

Which means it was super cold at night...
and no camp fires are allowed.

Finally some flat ground at the end of the trip.
70 miles ~ 5 1/2 days

Oh, and I adopted not one,
 but two kittens over the
weekend also!

photos coming soon...
if I can get them to be still long enough!

Ready for Camp?

Singing, playing, and doing what you love?

Not so much this...

but how about something like this...

Or how about something like this...

These are photos from the 7th annual Pine Needles Quilt Camp
at Bass Lake, Ca.
I have been working hard getting my plans together,
as Camp Counselor,
putting together projects and plans for a weekend of quilting fun.

The 8th Annual Pine Needles Quilt Camp
will be held
October 4th, 5th and 6th  2013

Each year has been something to look forward to.
Our last hurrah before the holiday's.
Virginia, my partner, and I started  holding these
retreats "in our backyard" several years ago now.
Each year we grow, share and just have fun working on
projects with our new friends!
Won't you come and join us this year?
We have a few more spots available and
would love to share this experience with you!

The retreat is $215.
It is held at the Pines Resort at Bass Lake.
Are you ready to join in?

Everyone is welcome!

From Here To There

I have yoyo's
from here...

to there!

I was going to say up my kazoo...
coming out my ears...
well, you get the picture!
I have all 128 made now for my Coastal Lily quilt.

And what you are seeing here is NOT my Coastal Lily,
but the bonus pieces from it!
There was so much being cut away that I had to
save the cut away parts... I am not sure what I am going to make,
but I am pretty sure it is going to be something BIG!
That is a whole lot of scrap/waste.
I have been spending so much time on "nothing" that I can't remember
what Coastal Lily is suppose to look like.
Seriously.

And then,

While working on that project, I neglected this project.
I was making Retro from the Simply Retro book.
I joined the group that is making each quilt from the book, but
I have fallen behind, and NOW they have moved on to the next quilt!

I have lots of blocks, ready to sew together.
I wonder if I will be able to do some catch up sewing
over the weekend?
I have a long list of that already.
I have 2 blocks to make for my Bees Knees group,
my Fat Quarter Shop Deckade block of the month,
a Schnibbles of course,
now Wagon Wheel
and that is just the current list!

I also read a wonderful little something about Lori Holt's
row along...
It's going to be made into a book!
So if you are like me and missed that one...
here is a wonderful chance to do it!
Quilty Fun Book Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet #ISE-902
And the book will have several other
projects in it too!

How many hours are in the weekend?

Another Round of American Jane

I thought I would continue with the American Jane subject...
and show a couple of the quilts I have made from her
patterns.

There were a couple of other quilts also...
one I know I gave away, and the other just seems
to be lost among with the other quilt tops that need to get finished.
Here is my first two
Wagon Wheel blocks...

This one is done.

This one is not quite done yet.
I'm using my DS fabrics along with
some MoMo.

Grab A Seat...

Have you met her before?
Here are some photos from the Sandy Klop aka American Jane
trunk show last Thursday.
She captivates you the moment she starts speaking.
She has stories to tell and poems to read.
She is just as cute as a button!

I only wish that the trunk show lasted longer!

I didn't have a great seat... so please forgive my photos.
And say hi to Barbara, who's head you will see in several of the pictures!

This is Primarily Houses.

Here is Triple Crown.

This is Wagon Wheel.

Pizzellies

French Fox.

Three Month's Salary.

Stargate... love this one too!

Flying Circles.
This is the one my DIL fell in love with and was her project
for the class.

Feathered Stars.

Folk Art Fancy... in beautiful fall colors.

Dancing Ladies.
Sweet quilt. This was the pattern several people worked on in
the class.

Edy's Quilt. It is stunning... just imagine twice as big and
twice as bright~
this one is now on my list!

My new favorite possession?
... that polka dot bag!
