Quilt Show: Vendors!!!

A quilt show has to include some shopping...

so I thought I would share a little glimpse of what followed me home.

First indulgence:

Patterns...

Had. To. Have. It!

A few other things too. 

Isn't she sweet? 

The idea is to make it for my grand daughter...

but I'm pretty slow at that. I haven't even made the shopping cart cover yet!

*guilt*

I had to get this pattern too... it's for that other side of me.

It was by Joe and Thimble Creek. I think it would make a good red and white quilt also.

 And then there was a little bit of fabric indulgence!

Red Door Quilting had a cute sample using these fabrics (and some others)

 but I didn't really want the whole kit. So with a little bit 

of looking I found that they had little bundles of fat quarters that

were the same as in the kit. 

 Then there was the Quilt Soup and the Gingham Girls booths...

What could I say? 

Yes, please!

And then there was this...

Sa-weet! I have never tried one of their patterns before...

I am anxious to give it a test drive!

Quilts~ Naturally

I wanted to show you some of the photos I took while I was at the 

Road to California.

I am always amazed at the talent of other quilters...  and very humbled also!

The quilts that are nature scapes are beautiful.

The border on this one is pleated. 

The squirrel looks lifelike here! Like it actually has fur!

This was a nice one. 

A Monet influenced art work.

Gorgeous!

Do you see their reflection in the water?

This one is beautiful... I have a certain fondness for

pine trees.

I have a fondness for sea turtles as well! 

These are quilts that I really enjoy but I never would attempt.

It's a whole other ball game for me! I quilt because I can't paint!

And I need straight lines please!!!

Never-the-less, I can appreciate the creativity and the labor of love

in each and every one of these.

I will show some other traditional quilts tomorrow.

BOM Rehab: Something New

I was lucky enough to go to the Road to California over the weekend.

But one morning my friend and I took a little side trip down to Temecula Quilt Co.

I feel like I have a split personality in quilting style.

I love Shabby Chic but I also have a love for Turn of the Century also.

So, some of these little projects can keep my happy while I am more focused 

on my Shabby side!

Yesterday I read their blog...

Did you know that Temecula Quilt Co. is hosing a sew along!

I was on that in a heartbeat!

So, here is my 5 blocks for part I. 

I will share photos from the Quilt Show tomorrow...

but here are some from the Temecula Quilt Shop that I took.

Mid Week Mosaic

I am heading out on the Road to California!

I know, I actually already do live in California...

But I'm talking about the Quilt Show down in Southern California.

I use to go every year... but haven't been able to attend for a few years now.

That's why I am so excited to be going!

It's an amazing quilt show... and okay, lots of fun, and 

great vendors are there too!

I love seeing all the amazing different types of quilts.

Velda Newman's quilts are in the above photo.

I was able to see her once and her amazing quilts are super sized...

much like the Georgia O'Keeffe of quilting! 

You can see the tops of the heads of an audience viewing her

quilts... that gives you an idea of how large it is. All of the quilts are like that..

I hope to take lots of photos of quilts like these...

and the other inspiring quilts... that I think I might

be able to make!

(did I mention doing a little bit of shopping too)?
