Sew Turn and Stuff

I have spending a lot of my "winter" time reading...
not just my favorite...
historical fiction, or crazy enough,
 even poetry
but also quilting books,
which is what sweet dreams are made of!

It is no news that I love pretty much everything
by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company
also known as Carrie Nelson...

So, above
is a couple of my newest books and I have actually
had a little free play time to  experiment with the Pin Pals
pincushions book by Carrie Nelson.

Here are a few other pincushions that are projects
in the book.
They all are  so cute... so fair warning...
if you start making them,
it will be like
"If you give a mouse a cookie"
syndrome so be prepared!

(the images here are from the Pin Pals book)

Carrie is a master of small blocks and Schnibbles,
but her techniques and tips for making up
these precious gifts (for a friend or yourself)
really puts her in a league of her own.

(photos are by Brent Kane)

I love all the information in the book including tips
when you poke a hole in your corner when turning
the pin pal and
all the info on types of thread.
So helpful!

Does it look like there are a lot of
pincushions?
The book is jammed packed with 40 different
projects... that are great for using up your
favorite little
bits of fabrics or showcasing
your mini charm packs!

You can find a copy of this book on Amazon

Carrie has another  book that has just been
released...
isn't she busy?
I will share more about Summer Moon next time along
with a few finished
 pincushions of mine from the
Pin Pals book.

Thank you for visiting me!

Really, the Month is Over?

Before this month is officially over...
I thought I would
say hello for the first time in 2019
and reacquaint myself here!

We took a little family weekend trip here this month...
Monterey Bay Aquarium.
It was so fun with all the
kids and grand littles!

Unfortunately my phone flat-lined a few weeks ago
(while in Monterey)
and I lost my photos
 and ALL of my
phone numbers!

However,
I was able to take the SD card from the phone and
bought a little item to put it in and then upload it to my
computer... thank goodness!
So good news... my photos are back
but
bad news... my phone numbers are irretrievable.
Oh,
and I have had a bit of a learning curve navigating a new phone.

What I am happy about is having an iPhone now and hopefully
my photography will improve!

Here is my first project for 2019!
I had cut it out MONTHS a-g-o
but never seemed to get it off the back-burner and
to the sewing table.
So it was the priority for January!

It was such a fun quilt to make...
and I didn't get anything turned around, as I
was afraid would happen!
The pattern is by Trish Poolson and it's free on the Riley Blake website.
You can get the pattern here (can't find page, sorry)
and a yellow rose version is also available here.

I also worked on this project this month...
it's called A Little Break.
This cute heart on a cup pattern is now available...

Here is my finished top!
Satomi has been so busy over the last year... making
some really cute patterns!
You can find her shop here.
But you can find her over at Instagram too...
satomi_quilts
She is so sweet... you should follow her if you don't already!

I have already started cutting out a quilt for February...
so, I will be back soon!
But more importantly, I need to
start spending more time viewing
your blogs... to see what you are
 doing so far in 2019!
