We Reserve the Right to Change Our Minds, right?

A slight change of plans...

my Gone to Market quilt in progress...
I was planning on making the large version...
but I have been too slow, so now I have a new plan
I am making the small version and going to put that in the LQS for my sample...
in the meantime I will continue with my handles and blocks and at some point they will
all be united into one quilt, but not in the near future!

I started making my yoyo's for my pillow.
But now that I am seeing the red...
I think I want it to be a deeper red.
Not happy with these.
and now I will be brave and show you my current sofa pillows:
eewwww! LOL- this is killing me!
Maybe I shouldn't have showed you!

Isn't That Funny?

After I posted yesterday I was blog hopping and I ran across this:

So, as luck would have it... or was it fate, maybe destiny? Sew Mama Sew is celebrating
February as "Pillow Month".
I can't wait to see what new tutorials and projects they have up their sleeves....
it starts February 1st. Perfect!

But then I found an old Bunny Hill pattern at home that I want to whip up for Valentine's Day and I even made a plan to make it next Sunday with my friend Patty.
and then there is this little yoyo pillow by Lynette Anderson that looks like it would be
easy enough to whip up! (I love the houses too.)
Lots of cuteness!

Mosaic Monday- Pillows

These are some pillows and pillow patterns that inspire me.
One of the easiest ways to give your room a quick makeover is to change the pillows... right?
so, I'm wondering, but I'm a little embarrassed to say... why do I have the same pillows on my sofa that have been there since  I bought the set?
In fact they actually came with the group when I purchased it. I didn't even pick them out... they are "coordinated".
How bad is that?
And of course, now that I have made this confession, you know
I am forcing myself to start making new pillows!

Gnomes and Winners!

The weekend before last, we had an after Christmas,
Christmas brunch celebration for the kids who couldn't be
home for the holiday's.
It was right after Epiphany, so still within the holidays, right?
Anyway,
one of the gifts, for Jill, was a little apron I made out of a dish towel and I used the
panel from the Happy Zombie.
I turned one of the little gnomes into a pot holder and the other one is a pocket on the apron.

Then... I finally released the "wedding quilt" to the kids-
all quilted and bound! Did I mention king size???

( I think I'm ready for more Dresden's!)

I wanted to thank everyone again who shared a funny story or a joke for the hubs!
And thank you all for entering the giveaway too!
Before I announce the winner I wanted to share something funny with you too!
(well, I think it's funny)

and now,
the winner of the
Victory Garden embroidery kit is:

#81,who is non other than: Kelly at Charming Chatter!!!
and the winner of the Henrietta Turtle kit is:

#33 which is: Jen at Miss Punkie Pie!!!

but wait!
I have to tell you that I was talking with one of the owners of Quilter's Paradise,
where I purchased the kit, and I was telling her how many people loved the turtle pattern and kit...
and she said that she would be happy to offer my blog readers a 10% discount on
Henrietta Turtle... just mention Pink Pincushion!
They are really fun to make- you could even make a herd of turtles!

Things That Fly

My camera cord and I found each other again! Now I can show you...

My butterflies...
my flying geese...
my "Picnic" quilt by Thimble Blossoms...
(my Word: Picnic)
that's ready and waiting for borders!

Did you see this new book that is just being released by Kim Brackett at Magnolia Bay Quilts?

I loved the fun scrappy quilt on the cover and when I found  out
(via e-mail from that sweet Kim herself) that the  quilt is called Picnic...
I knew that I was going to have to make it for sure!
and this is the ancient heating pad I mentioned...

and here it is with a new cover. Flannel, notice the way the threads are sticking to it!
I did add a little hole on the side for the cord to go through and made it envelope style.
And this is what I did with my butterflies...
So my question is...
should I make the columns thinner and make two more rows of butterflies?
The original plan was to make it similar to one I showed in my post last week...
that one had circles in the columns. What do you think?

A Little Bit of Progress

In keeping with my Charming Girls Club theme for the month, "picnic":
It looks like my first picnic of the year will be at "Club Kaiser"
now that the hubs has got the okie dokie to eat "food" again. Actually he has made a lot of progress--

It looks like he might be able to come home today or tomorrow--Yeah!

Thank you all for your well wishes for Fred. I didn't know if I should even write about
it at all in my post last time. I am not sure if I was breaking any bloggy taboos.
But, I appreciate the opportunity to release a little stress, so thanks for listening to me and thanks for entering my giveaway and sharing those funny stories and jokes!
I have misplaced my camera cord, again, so next time I will get to show you a little of what I have been working on. I had been making my butterfly quilt and put the rows together. But now I can't decide if I want to add the circles or not... so I'm going to need your opinions tomorrow when I can take a picture of it and post it.
One thing that I discovered while the hubs has been gone... that the heating pad is great for sticking under your blankets and taking the chill off for me before I slip into bed! Not a warm body replacement by any means... but it worked in a pinch!
The heating pad is like 100 years old... and so I couldn't resist making a new little flannel cover for it, to cuten it up a bit! I really haven't gotten much done at all, but spending a few minutes sewing in the morning or evening is so relaxing... so it doesn't even matter if I get anything done.
Don't you agree?

A Little Giveaway Is Just The Right Medicine Today

Hannah has had to come to work with me this past week.

She's been a little sad and I have been a bit stressed.
Life has thrown us a little curve with my husbands health.
Hospitals are just no fun at all.

So we decided that since we just made a 250th post and we now have over 400 followers
we should do something more happy and have a celebratration!

So let's have a giveaway or two!

I had decided that I am focusing on embroidery this year so
I thought a little embroidery kit would be fun.

And I love turtles. I had made a few of these turtles and I love them! But instead of making one for you right now...
I thought we could giveaway a kit of Henrietta Turtle too.

So just leave a comment to enter the giveaway.
And as I believe that laughter is the best medicine...
something along those lines would be nice to share with the hubs.
The giveaway will continue through January 19th.

A Picnic Kind of Life

Unexpected destinations was going to be my "word" but I think I can sum up
what I mean even more by saying "Picnic". A feeling of romance. Embracing life.
It can be as simple as a picnic on your own lawn or an impromptu tailgate picnic at a scenic vista point.
Or a little lunch on the beach somewhere.
But it is meant to be simple. Intimate.
A special joy.

But the ideas for my sewing room are a little different.

I really want to embrace embroidery this year.
It's my challenge.
There is a really sweet BOM starting this month...
that I just have to join, not only for inspiration but also for moral support! hehe

It's Birdie Stitches. By Little Miss Shabby.

and did you see this new BOM by Bunny Hill!
Anne just has a way of embellishing on the sweetness of life!

This was a quilt that I saw on Comfort Stitches... and I am tickled to say that
I figured out how to make this cute quilt! So I am working on that right now!
I made a small butterfly quilt a month or two ago, and there was another one or two I had
seen in blogland including this one that was actually from a magazine. But I am hooked on these butterfly's! I have a new one ready to start... but I don't think I can stop there.
It's such a great way to use up my scraps!
