An Extra Set of Eyes

I know that it's getting near Halloween, but I don't mean an extra set of eyes in
a scary way.
This is a photo of the sewing machine that
my grandma had.
Although I know where this one resides...
in the garage of distant relatives in Oregon... there it will remain.
I have been on a search for one just like it.
I am confident that some where some time I will come across
The Free #5.
But extra eyes out there wouldn't hurt... so if anyone sees one of these
beautiful machines in a garage sale or a thrift shop...

please let me know. I would be thrilled to own a machine that looked like
my grandma's.
I don't get to a whole lot of  yard sales or antique shops,
but I did get to go to a church yard sale

a couple weeks ago. I found this... and although I have no idea what it is...
I assumed that it had to do with knitting.
Do you have any information?

I couple of weeks ago I shared  two of my BOM projects that I haven't touched
and I was concidering a new pattern for.
I was disassembling my BOM kit and thought I would
snap a photo of what 12 months of fabrics looks like.
They practically did the cutting for me!

This is from my other BOM that I pilfered.
Doesn't look like a whole lot does it?

I have to say that neither one of these came from the FQS.

Just something to think about when signing up for
a block of the month.
Size vs. monthly charge.
I am now more aware.

The FQS does do the best BOM kits. Actually they do spoil us. LOL

I hope you find the machine you desire.

I had this happen the last time I went on a shop hop. The fabric was cut so skimpy that I did not have enough to make the block. Needless to say, I don't do shop hops anymore. Not only because of the slim fabrics, but the cost of gas is just making it too expensive.

That is scary I have several BOM's stashed away, oh the thought..

That is a very good point. From following blogs I've seen several people get essentially two quilts out the FQS BOM. I wouldn't know because I have done only block 1 of 2011. I know, I know. Rehab!

I have only ever purchased two mail order blocks of the month. One with fabric and one was pattern only. One is done and waiting the final border and the other is sitting in a bin only barely started. I think I tire and lose interest in them before I even get all the components...they are so dang tempting tho when you see everyone else doing them.
I am sure when they "grow up" they will be something beautiful.
I get to the odd garage sale and will keep my eyes peeled for "Gramma's machine." Happy hunting!

I will say (like all others did before me), FQS is great and very generous with their fabric cuts in their BOMs. I don't think I would join a BOM anywhere else. :)

I love FQS as well. One time I really messed up a block and totally ran out of fabric. They were kind enough to send me what I needed - no charge. They rock!

I was recently in a quilt shop in Marshall Mi called Quilts at the Marshall house and they had old Singers about the store and they were for sale. I do not remember if they were as elaborately painted as the one you are looking for but you can call and ask. Good luck in your search and I really enjoy reading your blog.
