A Fairy Garden and A New Summer Project

Evie and I went to the nursery to get flowers and then decided a fairy garden would
be fun to make!
So we did!
And since no fairies had moved in yet...
she had my Matryoshka nesting dolls come to the garden and play!

I have also been building my Summerville quilt!

The house construction will be starting next!

Happy 13th Birthday Celebration!

It's another week... and another something to celebrate!

I can't believe that the Fat Quarter Shop is Sweet 13!

I think it was soon after they got
 their start that I discovered
the blogging world,
 as well as on-line shopping!

http://www.fatquartershop.com/

The Fat Quarter Shop has been my go-to on-line store...
for 3 main reasons...

#1- large variety
#2- fast service and also
#3- generous kits

and I'm sure you will agree that they have also been a great contributor to
the quilting community!

For years they offered monthly gifts for our
Another Year of Schnibbles sew alongs!

Today I would like to congratulate Kimberly Jolly and her happy family!
Wishing you many more birthdays to come!

And what's the fun of a birthday party without gifts?

Here are the gift prizes you can win by entering into the
birthday celebration!
First of all, enter the code LUCKY13 and get 13 percent off of your purchase.

Then you will be entered to win one of these 13 prizes!

Eleven winners: $100 Fat Quarter Shop Gift Cards

One winner: $250 Gift Card

One Winner: 12 Months of our fabulous SEW SAMPLER Box - a $750 retail value!

Midweek Mosaic (a wee bit late)

Summer is officially here!

The heat is here too!

I think that this would be a good time to
work on small projects.
Or even embroidery.

I hope your weekend is fun and refreshing!
(I used PicMonkey for this photo)

... and you dream in sherbet!

(I purchased one of these bundles from Fig Tree & Co.
I will be thinking of ways to use it... along with the possibilities in
the little downloadable booklet that FT and Co just published).

Here is a little Flashback Friday for you!
This was Strawberry Fields I.

Have a good weekend!

Picnics and Such

I had a chance to
finish up this quilt...
I had all the blocks done... a few months ago but it got set aside!

It's a pattern called Picnic Petals by Whole Cloth Quilts.
I just loved making this Flowering Snowball styled quilt.
I can see doing it again... king size!

Another picnic quilt...

Here is another quilt top I finished using Little Ruby
called Vintage Baskets. The pattern is by Cotton Way (Bonnie)

This fabric is a collection of the sweetest little prints that
Bonnie and Camille could come up with yet!
I already want more Little Ruby... before it's all gone!

I actually have a little finishing up to do.
on the cherries... and then decide on a border.
I was thinking of a print from the Bonnie and Camille group Vintage Picnic
Any ideas???

Here is my Fig Tree Frivols quilt that I finished up...

I love Strawberry Fields Revisited just as much as I did the first
edition of Strawberry Fields!

I also want to say that I am miffed about losing my photo editor.
I have always used Piccasa but now that is gone... and please tell me that I am jusy
 left with
Google Photo!

What do you use?
Please lead me to a good program that is user friendly!
I need help!

This is a group that I recently cut into... a Holiday line by Kate Spain.

It has really unusual prints/colors in this group...
but that makes it fun.

I will be returning to this one... but I wanted to dive into a summer
project right now.

I am using Farmhouse fabric to make Summerville!

I took one last photo of this quilt. Chicken Feed
using Thimble Blossoms fabrics.

I gave it away last weekend along with another quilt...
birthday quilts for a couple of women .in my extended family.

I can't keep them all can I?

Farm Girl Vintage Anniversary Celebration!

It's a very special birthday
we get to celebrate today!
It's going to be a big
party... and you are invited
to join in!

Kimberly Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop is
hosting the anniversary celebration

If you remember Lori's last anniversary celebration....
for her Quilt Fun book...
she created a sweet birthday cake pattern
 to share with us.
This
year she has created a
another pattern ... and it's her gift to you

It will go great with last year's
free celebration layercake pattern!

Lori has a full tutorial on the Bee In My Bonnet blog today!

The Fat Quarter Shop has a very fun post to
 share with you too.
You can find it here.

And there's more!
Lori has another FGVcompanion pattern pattern
available today... and you're going to love it!

I couldn't resist making the 1st anniversary of Quilty Fun
cake pattern to go along with my pillow...
and now that I made it... I want to make the
layercake pattern in the 6" size that is also
part of the free pattern today!

Which now has me thinking...
"what about the Mix It Up pattern by
Bee In My Bonnet"?!?
I need mixers to go with the cake don't I?

Thank you Lori for all the
inspiration this past year with Farm Girl Vintage!

(if you don't own a copy of the book... you should get one... and today the Fat Quarter Shop has them on sale)!

Sherri and Kim's Sew Along: Come Watch

I am excited to show you a fun little project that I worked on!

I got to play along (at home) with
 the Fat Quarter Shop's newest
video that they made with
and now you can too!

Sometimes you just need a new pincushion as a little accent

in your sewing space!
I grabbed some scraps from a project I was just working on.

And a little bit of my measure tape twill that I had on hand...
and in no time at all...

I have a cute summer pincushion to brighten up my work area!

And since I was working on a Frivol..
SherriI had a fun little bonus in the
box...
which was suppose to be a quilt label
but for our purposes...
it makes a nice backing for the pincushion!
 Don't you agree?

What are you working on?
Do you have some scraps you are savoring?

Well, join in the fun with the Fat Quarter Shop and Sherri
because I guarantee that even though this seems like
a done-it-a-million-times project...

Sherri has more than one tip and trick
to share with us!

And who doesn't want to watch Sherri
in action anyway?

It was nice to see her and Kim and listen to them...
so HERE is the link to the video.
Or you can just scroll down and tap the play button.

You can hop over to Fat Quarter Shop to see their blog post here.

And then you will wonder where you can get some of the twill tape they were using...
(hint: you will be able to find it at FQS)Fat Quarter Shop 5 yard Twill RibbonFat Quarter Shop Exclusive

Seriously cute!

One Block + A Wedding

MIUT-Spring
New fabric to play with!

I had a very busy wedding weekend and only managed to visit my sewing room this morning!

I am starting to play with Brenda Riddle's Bespoke Blooms fabric group!
It is the sweetest fabric group just like you would expect from Acorn Quilt Company
The pattern I am using is also from AQC called Blissful.

The blocks are set on point... I am anxious to see how it gives them a
different look! (Are you turning your heads to see how it would look)?

So, the wedding...

This beautiful ceremony was at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park.
It might be a destination wedding location for a lot of people...
but we are lucky enough to live minutes away...
so it was not only an amazing venue but
a place that is dear to my heart as well.

Cara is a wonderful DIL and perfect addition to our family...
however it doesn't seem like she is new to the family at all.
They have all known each other since they were
teenagers.

Here is a group photo...
the men in my life!

A sweet photo of Evie wearing her great aunt's flower girl dress
circa 1955.

Here are the other girls that make my boys happy.

I have one more "family photo" to share today...
