Eventide Finale'- As In: I'm Done

I guess I am at the tail end of the parade of Eventide quilts!
But here it is-- Eventide, all completed.

I was talking to a quilting friend in Oregon over the weekend and
describing this quilt to her and what a challenge it was for me.
I called it my Dear John quilt.

Dear "Eventide",
We have been in this relationship for a while now and I have to tell you that it has been very stressful for me.
I think this relationship has ran it's course.
It's not you!
It's me.
Please believe me when I tell you that you are a wonderful pattern, with lots of depth and character,
written well, and in fact it felt like your creator was right there sewing along with me.
The problem is that I found you very challenging. Every inch of the way.
So I need to say it's over now- we need to go our separate ways-
don't call me!

Now on to other things...
This is Pure and simple.
Just what a girl needs to relax and enjoy and spend a few quite evenings with.
You help me decompress!
That's all I'm asking for.
 (right now anyway)

I just love your Eventide!!! It is gorgeous ! Congratulations !I also found this quilt to be quite a challenge that is why after I finished mine I had Thelma have a give away for the pattern.

Sinta, you did a great job! I love how you balanced out the dark and light values.

Difficult patterns are, I think, the result of us putting too much stress on ourselves to perform. You should be very proud of Eventide, even if you never make another one. I am sure you've inspired others to take on the challenge.

Your quilt looks great. It does look like a challenge, but your conquered it.

Sometimes you need to be challenged, but when it's over... It's over! LOL! Gorgeous! If it was mine I would also acknowledge that it was well worth the effort. Congrats on a wonderful finish!

I love Eventide, but I understand. There are some quilts that knotted my knickers, big time! It's good to be able to jump over to something fun and easy, refreshing!

Dear Sinta,

Please reconsider your relationship with Eventide. You were made for each other. It shows in the finished product! Awesome!

Your "letter" was too funny!! The quilt is wonderful - I think when you have a little more perspective, you will fall in love again. And your Picnic Pure is great.

Absolutely Beautiful Sinta! Love that those browns came in, they look awesome in your arrangement.

I do love the Dear John idea though! just don't do the whole ritual burning of items after the breakup because the quilt is way way too pretty for that!

I've had my own "don't call me pattens" so I can appreciate what you are saying. But all the difficulty was worth it because I must say Sinta, that quilt is absolutely beautiful! Excellent job!

Wonderful beautiful quilt! It was challenging and I'm sure after your sewing heart mends, you will once again look at Dear Eventide with fondness.

I really like your Eventide, though I completely understand your feelings. I'm working on my own Dear John myself, I've finally finished all 30 (well 32 blocks, 2 extra not sure why) They took more time than I'm used to, and now I can't decide on the sashing. I need to post about it and ask for help I guess.
Anyways I also understand the need to piece your picnic quilt, sometimes a girl just needs to cut and sew and be one with her fabric :)

Eventide is wonderful. You will feel the love again. Pure and Simple is divine! Love that fabric collection and the pattern you have chosen.

LOL...love your letter to Eventide...but it's a beauty even with all the challenges it threw your way. Your Pure and Simple quilt is pretty as can be!

You're so funny! It's me... it's not you.

I was re-reading something the other day about quilters, quilts and the process of them... the gist of it is that we put what we're feeling into the quilt as we are making it. Good, bad and otherwise. Happy times always seem to make happy quilts regardless of the color scheme. And vice versa. Sometimes you love everything about the quilt - fabric, design, process (okay, maybe not that part) - but you just don't feel the love for the finished quilt. Been there, made that!

But not to worry... there are other quilts out there and I am sure somebody would happily take "John" off your hands. :)

Eventide is very sophisticated and beautiful. Sorry it turned into a Dear John! I love the picnic blocks you're making.

Eventide is just wonderful! It seems after every quilt I make, lap size and up, I am just so sick of it when I am through. After a month's separation, I like it again!
