Cute Quilts~ DST Giveaway #6

Real cute quilts inside!

When I was at Road to California I visited this booth...
(this is her photo... I thought I had one, but I can't find it)

I would have like to move in... but it was pretty busy there, so
I didn't think she would let me.
Anyway, I purchased her new book...
and I already had her old book,
which has lots of cute quilts inside too!
I, actually haven't managed to make one of them.
But I do look through the book often.

So I am just going to pass her Stitched Together book on
as DST giveaway #6. I am sure I have a little
something else to add to it... maybe some Aurifil thread
would be nice!
Leave me a comment...
(I have been enjoying those)
tell me... are you a messy quilter or a neat and tidy quilter?

When I sew with my DIL... things are flying and it gets very messy.
That's her. I am very methodical. However... my stash closet
looks like !#*@*!#@*, that's me.
And she is the one that always reorganizes for me.
Maybe that's why we are a good team.

The winner of the DST giveaway #4
is Jackie who said:
Today, I am celebrating a finished quilt that I brought at quilt meeting tonight for "show and tell"! Also celebrating a second quilt retreat coming up in April, yeah! Can't wait...

Thanks for playing along with me this week.

I can only be messy for so long and then need to do some kind of organizing!

I a messy quilter when I playing ,choosing, sewing fabrics but love to see them organized.

A book I don't have, awesome, looks like a good one too. I have her new book and plan to make the pinwheel quilt sometime soon (I hope). I like to be very organized with the pieces of fabric I'm sewing together, laying them out in a uniform manner. The messiest thing in my sewing process is threads on the floor. I've been better lately about the fabric in my sewing room since I started sorting the scraps by color.

I'm definitely a messy quilter! I do try to put things back in shape by the end of the month so I am ready to rev the engines for the next month.

Hi Sinta!
I'm actually a bit of both! I have my stash organized into bins by colour and/or by project or fabric line. But when I'm sewing, I use a bin to keep my fabrics and pieces together! But, for some reason, my sewing room will still have stuff piled all over!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Take care, Leslie

LOL my sewing is methodical, but my area is a disaster. :-) But I try to fix things nicely before going off on a new project. Fortunately, my fabrics are pretty easy to manage... most of the time! Lucky you to have an organizer. :-)

I AM MESSY UNTIL I GET THRU AND THEN I PUT THINGS UP AND MAKE ANOTHER MESS

dortha said...

I am pretty messy. When I get finished I usually clean up if I can stand it that long.

Donna said...

I am a messy/neat quilter. Confused? So am I most of the time. lol! Seriously, while I am working the area gets quite messy but I put everything up - very neatly - when I quit sewing for the day.

Susan said...

I am a neat quilter as I piece but when I am getting fabric out, oh my, it gets down right crazy. I look like a person on one of those hoarder shows!
I loved the booth at Road to California that Jillilly had but it was so crowded I got there I didnt get to go in. Her new ruler looks intriging. Thanks for sharing.

Stephanie said...

I'm not familiar with her book but her booth is to die for so her book must be also! I am a messy quilter. My room is always in shambles. I like to blame it on the last thing I made but truth be know there is too long of a space between last and current to honestly say that! Oh well, messy I am.....

Kimberly said...

I've forced myself to become a tidy quilter because I couldn't stand the piles anymore! My studio is orderly and my table is clean after most projects are finished. Took a bit of training, but it was worth it!

I'm neat & tidy. When I sit to sew I need everything in my home to be clean, in it's place & looking good. Can't have lots of loose threads lying around either. Stash is always in some sort of order, too. Thanks for a chance to win this book. I love Jill Lily.

I am a messy quilter!
Love the book!

Lori said...

I am a messy quilter, but I have to "clean up" before I start the next project! The book looks great. Thanks for a chance to win!

Donna~~ said...

I am a totally messy quilt person (during the process) piling up fabrics and letting the scraps and threads fall where they may. But before starting anything new, I straighten up everything--so I can destroy it again!

Lyn said...

I am a very messy quilter. I get to many things going at the same time.

Actually, i'm neat and tidy when i'm sewing...lets not even talk about the rest of the house!

Marla's Crafts said...

You have a very pretty booth. I actually just finished cleaning and organizing my sewing room. It looks reaally good now. Thanks for having a give away.

Dee said...

I actually almost bought that book before going on a quilt retreat last year ,but then things got busy and I forgot all about it! I've got another quilt retreat coming up in April though and it would be fun to find a project we could all do together. As for quilting, I generally clean up as I go, so I'm a very neat quilter. Too much mess makes me frazzled!

Stacy Lindblom said...

Oooh, I love Jill's patterns and fabrics. I have her newest book and I want to make something out of there bad but I have so many projects going already it will have to wait. For now. I'm in between messy and organized. Seems like I'm always trying to find scissors or pieces of fabric but I usually know where to look and there they are. Hee-hee!!

DebrafromMD said...

I like to stay organized while I'm working, but that sometimes flies out the window when I have a pressing deadline. I hate to go into my studio when it gets too messy, so I try to keep it in order.

Debbie said...

What did the magician say in Frosty? Messy..Messy...Messy...Especially when I am making scrappy quilts

gailss said...

I would love to say that I am neat but while I am "creating" my projects, I am a bit messy. Have to say that I always do clean up after a bit....couldn't fine my machine if I didn't. LOL!

Jackie said...

This is a difficult one, as much as I like to be an organized person, I tend to forget about it while in the process of a new quilt.... But my plan at that time s.. Close the door at night and I'll re-organize when the quilt is completed. Lovely book!

Bev said...

I am also a messy quilter, but I can only stand the chaos for so long because I can't find anything!! Then it's time to take a break and get organized again. :)

My stash is organized but my sewing area gets messy as I quilt, but I do clean it up after each quilt

I am a messy quilter but I do have to clean up before I can start another project!

Mary on Lake Pulaski said...

I'm as neat as I can be since I have to share my sewing space with the guest bedroom and the office. It's also the only way to get to the basement where I do all my cutting. In other words, everything is spread out.

Needled Mom said...

Great question. I am messy until I can't find what I need. Then I get my place cleaned up so I can mess it again. LOL

hueisei said...

I am a messy quilter!! My sewing area is so terrible..

Wendy said...

I try to be organized, but I do tend to make a bit of a mess, but like many others I need to tidy up after one project before starting another.

Deb said...

My work surface is clean, but the floor is another matter entirely...but tonight I'm putting the borders on a quilt then tidying up so that I can quilt over the weekend without having to stare at the mess anymore.

Donana said...

I am a messy quilter IF the room is clean when I begin. If the room is messy and I want to sew I can't, I have to clean it. If it's clean when I start I get it messy and it pretty much stays that way until I want to start another...if that makes any sense.

I loved her booth the last time I went to Road. I bought a couple of their patterns and some fabric too!

Definitely very messy. Now that my commitment to our local Eisteddfod is almost over, it's time to tackle some of the mess.

JudyQT said...

I love to be organized.... I start out with the best of intentions...but as things go along I get messier and messier. Actually the messier I get the more creative I get. So for me it may be a good thing. I always reorganize when the project is done, though! Funny how different we all are... But it's all good! Thanks...looks like a great book!

Gill said...

I'm an organised quilter! I just can't sew when I'm knee deep in mess! Now the rest of my house is a different matter!
Thanks for a great giveaway!

my Haven said...

Thanks for a chance to be in the giveaway. I'm a very picky sewer but I don't mind thread all over the floor when I'm working. Time by the machine is to precious for cleaning;) My stash however is quilte tidy and I do give cleaning a really good 'go' from time to time...

Karen said...

Pretty booth... pretty book... generally a neat quilter, but every now and then, oh, my!... and how I would love a quilt retreat...

Julia said...

I am such a messy quilter! But I do have some control as I can never start a new project until I've cleaned up from the previous one.

I love Jililly quilts - they always look so happy!
Well, I am both a messy and tidy quilter. When I'm in the throes of planning, cutting and sewing, things get kinda messy. When I come up for air, I look around, get uncomfortable with the mess, then spend time organizing it all. I always hope that no one comes for a visit when I'm in the "messy" spell, because my friends are non-quilters, and just wouldn't understand!

Marilyn said...

I think my sewing area probably looks messy to everyone else, but I know exactly what I a doing - at least most of the time!

Teresa said...

Definitely a messy quilter. Thanks for the giveaway.

Barbara said...

MESSY...very messy! I always have to move piles to get to my cutting board, then move more piles to iron, then try to sew with more piles around my machine {hanging head in shame}. As much as I try to stay organized, I just never seem to manage it. We won't even talk about the threads, trimmings, etc all over the floor :-(

PunkiePie (Jen) said...

You are having a good time destashing, aren't you? Me? Messy at its best! I need more storage, that's for sure. My cutting mat is covered with other projects and I only have a 12x12 space to cut in. :)

Beeshebags said...

When I close my eyes, I'm the world's tidiest and neatest quilter, but sadly, once I open them again, reality returns and I'm my usual MESSY quilter again! What a thing to ask....love it!

I'm definitely messy when I sew. It happens when I sew anything, not just quilts. Remember the way Eleanor Burns tossed things back over her shoulder? I have a trash bag I put some scraps in but threads and little things end up on the wood floor. As soon as I finish, I get out the broom. But my fabrics are all organized and stacked neatly.

Laurel said...

I'm pretty methodical. Lately I've been taking my Joanne's coupons and buying up the stacking organizers with the blue lids. Each project has its own box and I love it. The lids also have handles making it easy to take them with me. My initial goal was to have just a certain number of plastic boxes and only that number of projects out there waiting. That goal has long since been tossed out the window as the boxes grow in number :)

rebecca said...

I am a neat quilter...until I can't find where I put something.

I generally only get messy on applique projects. I try to keep it streamlined on the piecing stuff. I have her other book already, so I would love to win this one! Thanks!

Messy,o so messy!!

Tina said...

It becomes a frustrating process for me as I always start off neat and tidy, but at the end it looks like a tornado hit! Seriously. So then I reorganize and everything looks SO pretty and I can actually find things, but then I start a new project. (I think I actually have this fantasy of making some headway through my stash so I can stay neat and tidy ROFLOL!!)

Linda in Arkansas said...

I think I'm nice a neat - although sometimes spread out into other rooms, but neatly spread out!

Wow--I would love to see that display up close! I just bought the book that contains most of those quilts!

Hmmm....I think I strive to be an organized quilter--but do get messy.

pinsandneedles said...

I'm a pretty neat quilter unless I'm paper piecing...that gets messy! thanks!

Denise in PA said...

I'd have wanted to move in too - how cheery her booth was! What a great giveaway - thanks! I'm a bit of both - but I lean towards neat. If things get messy, I'm okay with it for a little while, then need to organize things and I feel better!! o:)

Sunnybec said...

Messy, messy, messy, I can never find what I want. I will have a good clean up and put everything in it's place and within a few days it's as bad again.... I am terrible. Linda x

Andee said...

I do get messy while I am sewing, but I like to tidy up when I am done so I guess I am a neat quilter!

Sarah said...

I think I'm somewhere in the middle, a bit like you. I'm quite neat whilst I'm sewing have a place on the table next to the machine for all the piles etc. but the off its and scraps do get thrown in the pile that I will sort out "one day". Then I can only stand that building up for about 3 months so I go through and sort it into my scrap colour boxes, yardage that is folded and filed by colour, or tiny pieces I donate to the preschool and school for their kids "making". Hmmm makes me sound very organised! But it doesn't always look it so I'd say a bit of both!
