Breaking It Down By Seasons

Lottie and I were contemplating color choices
for the AP&Q Quilt Along.
I have 2 or 3 patterns already of the Burgoyne Surround
style quilt. Here are a few ideas I keep looking at for
style and color.
A couple of these are vintage quilts and a couple are from
the book by Elizabeth Carlson. The black and white version
with a renegade red block was in a recent issue of
Quilty magazine.

Anyway, I salvaged these fabrics from a BOM that I never intend on making.
Since the quilt along is about low volume scrappy, I thought these might
do the trick (today).

I could be over thinking things because I can't seem to
keep an idea of a color scheme for more than a day.

So while I can't decide...

I thought I would play with Round and Round
using Going Coastal (fabric that I have been hording).
But now that it is the first week of the new year...
I feel that it is time to get a little list going of
what quilts I would like to make.

Yes mam I see that I have a problem...
however I didn't see it before I took the photo.
That is what happens when I try to sew and push
the time until I am running out the door, nearly late for work!

Staying with the coastal theme is this quilt by Fig Tree and Co.
I bought the kit last year and never got it made.
So that is an easy one to add to my Winter list.
Also, I have French Vintage...
that I started, like this one...

but never completed.

I got very side-tracked last year.
If only I didn't have to go to my big girl j-o-b
for 8 hours a day... imagine what I could get done!
Do you know the feeling?

So now that the holiday's are over...
(well, I actually have one more event this weekend)
But after that I am ready to sit myself down right here and
get some serious sewing done.

Those fabrics look like they would make a very Shabby Chic version of the AP&Q quilt. I bet it would be very pretty!

I once quilted and bound a small quilt, and didn't see the mistake until I was photographing it. I love your sailboats. and I totally understand about the big-girl JOB getting in the way of what we'd like to be doing. Unfortunately, it's that JOB that pays for the fabric, so I continue to get up and go each day.

I had no idea that you worked full time. I thought it was just part time. Goodness, but you get a lot done considering. When I worked, I barely quilted at all--I just didn't have the mental energy. I love the sailboat quilt, what a perfect way to while away the cold winter.

I'm very happy that you are going to have time to quilt, because I am going to love following your quilting adventures. I love that sail boat quilt, so pretty :)

I've never done a quilt in this pattern, but now I'm really tempted. In looking at your examples, I'm really drawn to the quilts that use a dark background; I like how it makes kind of a negative space that pops the lighter block pattern. Your current colors (pinks and browns) are some of my favorites- I can't wait to see what you decide!

I still can't decide

I know how you feel about the job issue, the 8 hours a day, 5 days a week just gets in the way of all of my quilting time. I feel like I get a lot accomplished, but could do so much more if I didn't have to work....

Sinta I LOVE the color choices for the quilt along - it will be beautiful! I can totally relate to the JOB getting in the way! Jeepers we sure could sew to our hearts content with out that getting in the way! Can't wait to see your projects this year - they are always beautiful!

I understand all too well about the j-o-b! Mine interferes with my fun too. I was meant to be born independently wealthy.

The pinks and browns are so yummy--and I can tell Lottie agrees! I want to do the sew along, but can't make up my mind on the fabrics. That little boat quilt is adorable--I think since I live on a lake, I'm going to have to put it on my to-do list--thanks for showing it!

I hear you about the 'big girl job' but the way I see it, it supports my habit. :) Love the pinks & browns - it would have a very romantic feel. I say go for it!

If it wasn't for that paycheck, I would quit my job too and quilt all day! Gosh darn it! Love the projects coming our way this year! I'll be watching daily for your updates. I have the sailboat kit also, and it may make a debut by this summer depending on a certain baby that is getting born around then. We'll see!

Oh yes I understand the problem of having to work. This year my youngest will begin school and I'll have a Friday home on my own, so hopefully lots will get sewn! I've joined Instagram this year and I am following you. Y can follow me and see what I'm making at sarahkrothe.
