Back In Time: April 20 2009

I just realized that I had my 5th year blogiversary last month!

So I decided to pick an old post from
when I started blogging and share that with you!

I am going to have to think of something fun for a giveaway to celebrate!

Hmm, since I am sharing something old...
how about if I have a giveaway-a-day... (this week)
and share some of my vintage aprons with you?!?

It will be a bonus for me... because as you know, I have started packing so I can
move next month... and it's a good time to let go of things.
When I started blogging I thought that I would share more about vintage aprons.
I love them and have a nice little collection.
I love sharing more... so leave me a comment and I will pick a name tomorrow
for a winner for an apron from my collection!

Thanks for being there and reading my blog!

The Debut

Okay, here it is... the big unveiling! I took some photos of some quilts over the weekend. A couple of them will be entered into my guilds' quilt show next month. Please excuse the photography as I get use to all of this. Shew I am breaking a sweat trying to get this all organized on here! Anyway, the first quilt is Star Patch. The pattern is by Jan Patek. I just taught this class at Cottage Quilts last month.

This quilt... I wish the picture came out better... is Figgy Pudding by Fig Tree Quilts. I will enter this one and the one above into the show.

I used the Quilt Soup fabric line "Ellery" for the houses. I had been wanting to do a house quilt for a long time... so this is Cotswold Cottages from Miss Fig Tree, Joanna's book.

Here is a happy spring-ish quilt. Huge flowers! This is from an older Fig Tree pattern. Virginia, a friend of mine did the quilting on all of these quilts... I just love what she does.

Okay, that is it for now. I have one more that will be entered into the show but that one is in my office (at my big girl job). I will take a picture of that this week.
Now, on another note... it is Monday and I have been happily in the sidelines yet still a part of Red Geranium Cottage's (aka Sharon) looser Monday group. I am happy to say that I did lose 4 1/2 pounds! I gave up drinking hot tea in the morning. This, if you knew me you would understand, was a hugesacrifice! Mr. Earl Grey: I still love you... I just can't have the caffeine
right now, you understand... okay not just the caffeine-the sugar, the cream, yada yada!
Thanks for stopping by!

Aprons sure are a blast from the past aren't they? I have one that my grandmother used up until she passed 28 years ago. A friend made me one when I started to find them on different blogs but that's it for my apron collection :) Do you wear yours? I wear mine on holidays when I'm dressed and don't want to end up with turkey grease or other food on me.

I love the house quilt! I have a few vintage aprons that I love. Even though aprons are from the past, I wear one every night when I cook. It sure saves a lot of my clothes ;-)

How fun to read an early post!! I didn't know you were moving, I'm facing the same thing this summer. It is so "not fun." Good luck! I can't wait to see your vintage aprons.

Congratulations on your five years of blogging! My one year is next month. I wear aprons all the time, but they are not vintage. Thanks for the giveaway!

Hi Sinta! I love your flair with all things vintage - you have such style. Thank you for sharing an apron or two with us in your blog anniversary. Think of you often as I use the many wonderful gifts you sent me in the Santa Sack II exchange! Best of luck with your move - Becky

The post you shared from 2009 is classic, that was when I was a mere 'stalker'... good to look back and enjoy some of your previous work, isn' t it?

I got a chuckle at your reference to your "big girl job"...so cute.

Good luck with your move Sinta, I'll be sending all positive thoughts your way, my friend.

Happy 5th Anniversary. I think I just had an anniversary too and let it slip by, it is 4 years for me. Your quilts inspire me as always, and I too love vintage aprons, I have a few that belonged to my grandmother.

Happy Blogiversary! Thanks for sharing the glimpse of the past, as well as one of your aprons. I love aprons! I have one made by my mother but I try not to use it in heavy rotation because I want it to last forever.

Congrats to 5 years blogging and losing 4 1/2 pounds! I think I need to lose some weight, too, but honestly food is just so good;-)
I have a favorite apron no vintage at all but my mum bought it for me and I love it!

Congrats on five years. Aprons are fun. I have a bunch of "hostess aprons" as I think they are called from probably the 50s/60s. The frilly, lacy, voile type that don't do much to protect your clothes. When I sew (or dye, or paint, or do anything messy, I need something more along the lines of a haz-mat suit. Tip to toe and all the way around. Somehow my back pocket area seems to get the worst of it. I wonder why.

Although I am fairly new to your blogs, I must admit it is the only blog I do immediately look at when notified. I just have to locate the flower quilt! That is now on my summer to, do list! Good thing I write that list from the bottom up, that puts it on top. Lol congrats on your 5 years as a blogger. I am only sorry I did not know about them 5 years ago!!!!

I grew up with both of my grandmothers living with us! They both wore lovely aprons on a daily basis so as not to get their dresses dirty with day to day living. When I learned to sew I made them each a new apron but unfortunately I never found the "perfect" apron pattern. Such fond memories!
