Midweek Mosaic: Simple Appeal

(photos by Brent Kane for Martingale)

One of my all time favorite designers is Kim Diehl.
She has a wonderful style!

It is possible that I own every one of her books...
and her new one is a must have too!
It is packed with at least 14 projects and is full of
helpful hints and ideas for you too.

Simple Appeal

It's called Simple Appeal.

Published by That Patchwork Place.

I love the quilts that are in the collage!
Especially the penny rug and the one in the bottom left corner.

Her scrappy fabrics combined with applique make
up into sweet and charming quilts.
If you have never tried one of her patterns before I am sure
you will enjoy them.
In Simple Appeal,
Kim will teach you traditional techniques along with
 invisible machine applique, and
also wool applique on cotton backgrounds.

I have never taken a class from her
but I have one friend who did and loved it.

To get a glimpse into her world you might
want to watch a
a 3 part interview on Fons and Porter

If you watch the video what a sweet person she is...
and what a fun approach she has to making her quilts.

I have a little confession...
her books can be found  more often in my bedroom than in my sewing room.
I just love to look a the quilts and the photography as I turn in for the night!
That's a great endorsement isn't it?

You can find a copy at Martingale or also at Amazon.
and um, well, Connecting Threads has it too... and for 33% off!

I love just looking at her books, too. The photography is great and her designs are incredible! I'm taking 2 classes with her this summer - I can't wait to meet her!

Hi Sinta! I am very interested in Kim's book especially for the information on wool. I've never worked with wool applique before but did purchase a few small kits at a quilt show last February.

Thanks for the review :)

Oh - such a temptress! I do admire her work, but I haven't made one of her quilts yet. I have her 2013 calendar still on my wall to look at. I do want the book - so thanks for the tips and links!

I have four of her books! Love love love them. I will be adding this one to my library too. I often think her "signature" block is a churn dash because she uses it often and in very unique way. The churn dash just happens to be my favourite block! ...which is a bonus foe me. Great post!

Thanks for posting pics of the quilts inside the book. I love most of her stuff too and took a fun class from her once. I Love the quilt on the front of her newest book!

I love her work as well, and I think I have all of her books (including the new one). I made her quilt "grandmother remembers" - it is my all time favorite.
Would love to take a class with Kim some day.

Thanks for sharing!
