Caught Up and A New List Started

My sewing over the weekend was devoted to catching up with my Bees Knees Quilting Bee
blocks.
These can be intimidating because
there are new methods to try...

like Triangles on a Roll that I used for the flying geese border.

Then, there was this block...

I have always been meaning to try this block.
I really liked this one too.

And then sometimes we are given instructions...
and are given freedom to just go with it!
That makes me the most nervous... but I like the way
it turned out.

I have been meaning to make some pillows...

so I used the Spell it with Letters
that Moda did a quilt along with
recently.
I have plans in my head to go with Minick and Simpson style...
in one of their books they have a whole bench of
 pillows that are Americana
flags. They looks so fun and summer-y!
That will be one of my summer goals.

My other goals for the July-August-September moths
are....

1. I have been wanting to make an Gypsy Kisses Quilt ever since
I bought the Material Obsession book... and that was when it first came
out! I have been drooling over these two versions recently made by Thelma
and Cindy.

2. Sail Away by Fig Tree and Co.
I got a start on this one but set it aside in order to get my Coastal Lily quilt done...
and oh yeah, packing... because I had to get ready to move!

3. This is another one that I had started...
Dresden Cover Quilt... so I have it on the list to finish!

I have had the magazine since it came out.
Got it started last year... but it's anther one that needed time.
I wasn't finished and also wasn't happy with my background fabric choice.
So it's time to revive it this summer!

This one was amazing. It was made by JoAnne (Patriotic Quilter) from
the same pattern.
You just need to go see it on her blog. The fussy cut centers are beautiful.

4. Evening Blooms
I think I have been sitting on the fabrics for the last two years at least... and the book
even longer. Now I am committing to a block a month.
I am not sure if I am going to do hand or machine applique. I think the hand applique scares
the heck out of me... that must be what the hold up is. Blackbird Designs actually does
machine applique on their quilts. I have had it on my list before mind you...
I am really intimidated by it, but would love to make it. I just don't think I
am good enough yet.

I guess I will figure it out soon!
Yes, you can see the gorgeous one that Thelma made on her blog.
It truly is inspiring!

5. Starry-Eyed is the quilt I requested my Bees Knees Quilt Group
to make for me. I have all the blocks back and halfway put together.
It surfaced during the "move".
So now that I have caught up with my
Bees Knees blocks... I might as well get the blocks together too.
I stopped because I had managed to get a block or two in
upside-down and in frustration... I set it aside instead
of getting out my seam ripper.
It's been a stale-mate.
The blocks have not un-sewn themselves... so I guess it's up to me! ha!

So, that is 2 to start, 3 already started and 1 nearly finished.
That's 5.
And unless I get my hands on Harvey... soon to be released...
that's might be #6!

I have the Dresden Doily all cut out and little baggies full of blades organized. The last I remember, I was pressing the centres around the circle templates but things got scooped off the ironing board when I had word that the realtor was going to show the house. Now I have lost sight of both the circles and the folder with the pattern. I do hope it shows up while I finish sorting and packing the sewing room.

I need that magazine? Dresdens were one of my first blocks ever. You have a big plate!

I am always inspired by reading what you have accomplished and plan to work on. I am going to get to it and get some projects finished. I too love the dresden.

Hmmm. How do you get those starry blocks upside down -- it looks like they'd be the same no matter how you place them. Looks like you have your work cut out for you too -- what a great lot of projects!!!!

All great projects, my friend. I love the look of dresdens but have never had the patience to try them. I have seen JoAnne's quilt before. She did a wonderful job.

It looks like you have some great projects lined up! I love the Sail Away pattern and I'd really like to do that one. And your stars will be great!

That's a nice list! A couple of them are on mine too. I actually have all the fabric for Starry-eyed just waiting for me to get around to making it. Have fun sewing this summer!
