A Little Chicken Feed

I sent this one off to the LAQ a couple of months ago.
The fabric was by Thimble Blossoms.
It was one of the projects from AYOS
(Another Year of Schnibbles... from last year).

I thought it would be a great picnic quilt
for this summer.
I just received it from my quilter this morning.

I have the checkered fabric in blue as the backing and
I will use the same for the binding. Maybe.
Unless... I find the rest of my leftover fabric from this collection
and then I would consider making a scrappy binding.

Kind of cute, huh?
The only problem is... is that I thought it was so much bigger.
I went back and found the first photo of the completed quilt.
It seemed larger in that picture too.
I guess that just means I need to make a super sized version
of this Chicken Feed pattern!

Here is a close up of the quilting. It's similar to a Baptist Fan.

My poor weekend started off by getting a call in the wee hours.
My dad had fallen and was being taken to ER.
The hospital is about 45 minutes from my home.
So the day was spent with my poor dad.
He indeed had fallen and got pretty banged up in the process.
The worst part is that he shattered his hip socket. He also is on blood thinners and
there is a very large hematoma pushing his bladder over to the right side.
They have their work cut out for them and
he has a long journey ahead of him.

By the time I got Evie... I was so tired!
But we played and played and played some more.
I just didn't get to the art projects.
Oh well, next time.

I am so sorry to hear about our Dad, Sinta. That is a whole lot of banged up...some kind of fall. Poor guy. I'll say a prayer for him and his doctors.

The quilt is cute. Every time I 'think' I've made our picnic quilt, it comes back from the LAQ too nice to put on the ground :)

Cute quilt! I hope your dad makes a speedy recovery. A broken hip is tough for someone his age. will keep him in my prayers.

I'm so sorry to read about your Dad. I'll keep a good thought and prayer for both of you - this is almost as rough on you as it is on him.

As for Chicken Feed, it's gorgeous! And I love it. And I wish mine were bigger too - I think this means we both need to make it again. :)

I love your quilt....I was just looking at a bundle I have and trying to figure out a good pattern to use....Now I know what I'll use!
I have so many of Carrie's patterns and i'm sure I have Chicken Feed!

My mom just turned 87 and every time I get a call from Florida I never know what to expect.
Here's hoping your dad's recovery is quick.

So sorry to hear about your dad. We got a 3:30 AM call on Sunday night from the memory care facility where Grandpa Larry lives. He had fallen out of bed and cut his head by bumping it on the bedside table. They took him to the hospital, which I am sure was not necessary. He got a butterfly bandaid and is now back home at the facility. Hopefully your father will have a speedy recovery.

Love your Chicken Feed quilt! I don't think I have that pattern. Must get it!
