A Dozen Schibbles and a Fall Into Fall Giveaway

All of the parades have been exciting for us throughout this past year...

I am especially thrilled to put this parade together of A Dozen Schnibbles, to look back and see the creativity and what everybody has accomplished!

We have 18+ amazing finishers!
Be sure to visit each blog and read about their experiences!

and organizing AYOS-- it has been so much fun!!!
But also thank you to all of you who either joined in late or had to leave early...

AND our featured shops are fantastic- a big thank you for your support too!
I hope you join us for another year...

Love the parade!! Thanks for the fun Sinta!

AWESOME parade!!!

And what a wonderful giveaway to boot! Well, since I know my husband doesn't read quilting blogs, here it goes...in the past year I've bought fabric and hid it. He thinks I haven't bought any but I have...there I said it. I feel bad about it but when I secretly look at the fabric - I just feel happy. (...almost like 'MY PRECIOUS' kind of happy, that's a reference to the movie Lord of the Rings)

Brenda said...

Lovely gifts. Love the wool and pincushion.
Something quirky... I stash away things that I have bought shopping- fabric and other things.

Sheila said...

Something quirky, well this may make you laugh but I love to smell the clothes when I take them in from the clothesline, if only I could bottle that smell ;-) I sure would love to win your amazing giveaway and thanks for the opportunity.

I loved the show-thanks, but I love love your giveaway even more.
something quirky-my father told my hubby long long time ago that I was an accident waiting to happen-and thats still the truth.
I worked hard canning lots of goodies this year, and I think to get me to slow down, my angel broke my toe as I stumbled into a piece of furniture about 10 days ago, that didn't keep me down, so then my lower back went out-I can't sit still-enough is enough-so today I am mordanting cotton fabric for natural dyeing-marigolds and goldenrod-before the early frost hits the flowers-lol

I love the gallery of quilts they were so lovely.

Quirky story...mmmm.....the first time I met my husband was in a job interview and he told his boss not to employee me as I was a bit horsey and I would be a nightmare. Luckily he was ignored and 17 years later he still hasn't got rid of me!

Jenn said...

What fun; I look forward to being part of the new parade.
Something about me? Hmm. I am a deep thinker. When my finance and I talk about serious things, he often will tell me that he will get my thoughts in a couple days. I am so thankful he knows that I need that time to process my ideas.

Nanbon44 said...

wonderful show, quirky HUMMMMM lets see, I used to work for a PD, no thats not quirky, I am addicted to fabric, NO not quirky as everyone visiting here is addicted. OK I got it....I met my husband on line..... 14 years ago.... and they said it wouldn't last.....

Hmmmm.....Quirky.....I still say "shut off the light" instead of turn off the light. I was raised in a french speaking family so I have all these weird expressions that I say in english backwards. My husband only speaks english so I mostly only speak english now. But every now and then, my kids start laughing at me, because I use one of those weird expressions. I also say "you know?" ALL the time. My husband makes fun of me, but repeating it when I say it. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!!!

I love all the Schnibbles! What great quilters you had to stick with it all year. I am looking forward to your next year.

Quirky~~Well mabye strange. I love scary movies. That wouldn't be so bad but no one in my life likes them. I sit by myself at home and watch them. I'm not into slasher movies, more like fantasy or supernatural.

Cindy said...

Quirky and TRUE - I only use one eye..for real. I was born with a bad right eye and as the years went on, my right got worse, had surgery and now I only have me left eye.

I love seeing everyone's parade. It was so much fun!

I have many little quirks that the kids laugh about. I am one of those paranoid Moms. I always make sure the doors are locked before bed even if I was the one who locked them 5 minutes ago. I also make everyone close and lock their bedroom windows so no one can be stolen in the middle of the night.

Linda K said...

OK, quirky or funny...hmmm. I always hear from quilters that they like to bind quilts when watching TV, well, I can't do that because my two Cairn Terriers always want to sit (sleep) in my lap at TV time and I let them!! Guess I love my pups more than I want to get my project finished :-)
Thanks for the chance to win!

I don't know about quirky but something about me that most don't know....I used to be a Pest Control Supervisor/Technician and if we had rodent jobs it was terribly hard for me to kill them with my love for animals.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the year of Schnibbles and wished I would have jumped in sooner...but did make it and found a true addiction thanks to Carrie, Sherri and YOU! Don't miss my Fall into Fall giveaway...your going to smile when you see my offering. Hugs!!

What a lovely tablescape you created with your giveaway prizes...yummy! I appreciate you participating in this fun hop.

Quirky? As a child I would not eat chocolate. I'd save up all my bunnies and other chocolate treats at Easter and just hoard it until my brothers (5 in all) would bribe me for some...it was either money or giving me special 'trinkets'. I loved the power I had over them!!! I can tolerate some chocolate now, but am still not enamored by it...I lilke chewy or caramel types of stuff; spice cakes etc.

After five years of living here, I'm still stumbling across new things the previous owners left behind. Last time, it was a set of frosted shower doors in the very back of the canning closet.

Quirky? Uh... Ummmmm... I can't think of anything. OH!! I know. I like pasta - like elbow macaroni or rigatoni or shells but I HATE spaghetti! Don't ask me why. I do not know.

Wow, what a gorgeous post! The Schnibbles have been fun to watch right along but so many in one spot - wow again!

Before we bought our home we rented; it was a basement apartment, chilly and a bit damp. There were centipedes - big stripey ones - in the place. Once I went into the cupboard to get some spices and a centipede was LOOKING at me! He didn't even have the grace to pretend to be scared. I let my kids keep pet rats, have no fear of reptiles or spiders, but I can't abide centipedes anymore!

Something quirky: On Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year's Day, all household pets and visiting pets (last Thanksgiving there were 6 dogs and 2 cats here, only 2 are mine) get a Thanksgiving Dinner too, the works: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The triptophan in the turkey (the stuff that makes you sleepy, in addition to the over-full stomach) will knock out all those furry 4-legs too, lol! House of many snores within an hour of dinner.

Thank you for the generous giveaway! I would love to be entered.

I will share something quirky about me. When I eat certain foods I get loud hiccups that are often times painful. I have no idea why it happens and it doesn't happen every time I eat, though usually it happens at night and with breads and potatoes most often. I don't know anyone else with this weirdness. Thankfully it has yet to happen at a church function where food is involved... lol!

Blessings, Jessica

Quirky thing about me is the culture shock of my education - elementary school grade had 6 students; high school my class had 568 graduates; college graduating class had 10,000 plus. Thank you for this nice giveaway.

My family thinks this is quirky, I don't. I have gargoyles all over the house and odd statues, like a fish with glasses and dogs that look like Dr. Suess made them. Starting about Oct. 1, I will put little witch hats on them all, after Thanksgiving they all have Santa hats. I think I may need pilgrim hats for Thanksgiving.

Quirky? Well let me see ... hmmm ... My mom spend days making me a lacy, pearl buttoned white dress for a Church coronation. The dress was a divine! Why then did the audience gasp in shock as I paraded down the Church aisle? My sparkling white dress had turned a not so lovely shade of red. It seems one should not yank out a tooth for the tooth fairy right starting down the aisle! Oh, and lots of water will remove blood from white dresses! Happy blogging.

I really enjoyed your beautiful quilt show! Here's my funny: My favorite night out happened on the way to an adult Halloween party. A friend who went with us had decided to dress up as a "street bum". He had purchased ill-fitting clothes from the Goodwill store, dirtyed up his face, and really looked the part.....so much so, that when we stopped in a store on the way to the party, the cashier didn't want to wait on him! We laughed hysterically all night; truly the best party we ever attended!!!

What a great giveaway.....I'd really enjoy winning this one!!! Thank you for the chance :-)

True confession? Hmmm. Well, long ago I was in a big city Police Academy for 4 weeks. I realized I wasn't cut out for the job and resigned. In a round-about way, the experience led me to meeting my husband, so it all worked out for the best!

Thanks for such a great giveaway. Me, I am the most unorganized person you could ever meet. I cannot spell and love spell check on my computer. I lay things down and lose them. Some days I don't even want to go into my sewing room cos I know I won't be able to find what I'm looking for!

Ok...maybe that's not good enough, so here's another...

Thanks for a great giveaway!

I had no clue there was anyone in the blogiverse that could write a longer post with more photos than me....CONGRATULATIONS!!

I loved every minute of your post too!! Who knew there was so many schnibbles?

A true confession: Oh geez....how much do I really want the blogiverse to know about me? When I turned 30 I went on a cruise alone. On one of the french islands they had a nude beach. I actually found a desserted part of the beach...I walked quite a ways....took off my suit....laid on my towel....for probably 30-40 seconds. Put my suit right back on and walked away all proud. I am a liberated woman now....I can say I have been to a nude beach and I was nude. For me....that is really waaaaayyyyy out there!!! How is that for a true confession?

Smiles,
Kelly

Great post and giveaway. Sure enjoyed seeing all the beautiful quilts. Well, I might as well admit it. I am terrified of storms and the dark. I did it growing up thinking I was being sneekey and mom and dad would never know I was reading in bed after bedtime. years later I realised someone had to buy the flashlights and all the battaries for me. =)

A funny thing happened to me when I first began to quilt, I was overly enthused , I got a book out from the library and read all of it and when I went to get my supply list at the quilt shop, the lady who helped me told me I did not need all that stuff on my list, I argued yes I do, no you dont she said and we went back and forth until I said Lady the book says this, she says I wrote the book and you dont need all that stuff LOL LOL !!!Patchworksails, Izzy

What a great give away! And thank you for showing all those beautiful quilts!
My confession -I call myself a quilter, but I have only made small quilting projects as bags and table runners and so.
And I do have two kits for real quilts waiting to be done. I guess I am a "wanna be quilter".

You would have to talk to me face to face to get it, but I always put people in good moods by the things I say and the body language I use. Most people find me a little bit odd since I'm no longer a teenager LOL

Here is one that just happened last night!

We were at the neighbors on a typical Friday night. A few beers, a bonfire, and fun conversation....nothing unusual right? Until my neighbor noticed he was running out of wood. My husband decides to go home to get some of ours....and comes back with my cow (a fairly large wooden cow used for placing potted plants on). And decided to burn the cow! It seemed very wrong to me, but it was kind of funny to see the huge cow on top of this already large fire.

Warning: alcohol and fires are a bad mix.

It was funny until the cow fell off the fire and we had to drag out the hose.

Oh my, you really want us to put it out there, huh? First off, let me say, Happy Birthday!
I have read your blog alot and just love your Schibbles and think it's wonderful that you did it. I didn't find Schnibbles until it was too late to get in but want to do some soon. Your Schnibbles parade was great, thanks so much for sharing.
I don't know if this is quirky but it's me...I'm very OCD about everything. I have to stop myself from alphabetizing everything, I'm a list maker and put everything on lists. I drive myself crazy. I could go on but I'm not going to make a list here too! Thanks for having such a great giveaway. Your little pumpkin is precious and I love the wool and patterns. Have a great weekend!

I'm not sure I can top the quirky comments I've seen, they're pretty wild. The only thing I can think of is that I love reptiles and have owned, simultaneously, a Bearded Dragon, a Iguana, along with 2 dogs, 2 gerbils, and a guinea pig.

What an awesome giveaway prize, I would love to win! There are so many quirky things about me...hmmm, I believe I have an abnormal fear of spiders. My daughter recently found one in her bathroom, but neither of us could kill. It was gone by the time my husband got home...I still have not set foot in that bathroom. I can't even bring myself to open the door and look in. Guess someone else gets to do the cleaning! :)

Quirky....hmm. I think I am organized. I love your blog - thanks for the pretty quilt pictures and the chance to win!

I've heard of Schnibbles before but still don't know quite what they are. Little scraps of fabric?

Something funny? Earlier this summer I made a tiny tote for a prim Annie doll. I was in such a hurry to get it finished I sewed the straps on wrong! My daughter noticed and brought it to my attention. Every time I saw that tote I noticed the straps going the wrong way. I finally took them loose and fixed it! I still can't believe that I did that LOL

BTW, that's one awesome giveaway!

Your parades are always the best! Thanks for all your hard work; it makes blogging and participating fun.

My quirky story for your giveaway is that I go around my house clapping. I do. If I do a good job at cleaning, if the wind is blowing happily out my window causing the trees to sway merrily, if I get a fun phone call, win a wonderful prize, or think a particularly happy thought, I clap. Truly, it's the funnest exercise to do! :) Thanks!

Something quirky about me...I were a tiny scissors necklace and have been since 1996 when I made my first 2 quilts for a brother and sister that got married in the same year just 3 months apart. Ok something quirky about me.... I might be a little boring. I hate vegetables! But my kids haven't figured out that I don't ever have them on my plate. Bc of course I make them eat them. Hi Sweetie...
I am so thrilled to have met you through this blog HOP. That is one of the nice things about a blog hop you can make new friends and learn about new crafts and new ideas.

I love your giveaway. What a beautiful treasure of gifts give with such love.

I love the Schnibbles. I believe that my favorite was the cotton candy. It was so beautiful, and thank you for sharing all of them with me. Just gorgeous.

Now you asked for something quirky about ourselves. Well for me it is a black cat. Yes you are right, I am one of those, if I am driving and one crosses the street in front of me, I brake, do a u-turn and head the other direction. My DH can attest to this fact. I have been that way forever.

I am Country Wings In Phoenix, your newest follower. I can't wait to see what you share next. I love your blog home. Please stop by and say hi. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well. I love meeting new friends and sharing ideas.

Loved seeing all the Schnibbles! Can't believe how many stuck with it throughout the year. Goes to show what great projects they are. I met my husband accidentally on the internet. We keep that hidden because we neither one were looking for another marriage at all!! I thought he knew my grandma, and started chatting with him about her (she lives in a small farm town and I didnt live near her).

We've been married for 2 1/2 yrs. :)

Sharrieboberry said...

I'm the bug killer in our house. Wasps, bees, spiders, and other creepy crawlies are on my hit list. I do take the little salamanders outside and I only remove bugs if they're in the house. Bugs can be outside all they want, but not IN the house.

My 6'4" husband squeals like a young girl if something flutters near him. I have to step up and take care of the situation for him, ha ha! Don't worry honey; I'll protect you!

And the possum in the yard? I had to take care of that too. My husband claimed he didn't "have the right shoes" on to take go check out the possum! Possums are just not cute.

Oh! And when my husband and I were first married he stepped on something furry in the bathroom! That was a big squeal! (from him) I went to check it out and it was a squirrel! It ran behind the bowl of the toilet and I grabbed a towel, threw it over the squirrel, drug him out, and then took him outside!

Well, I probably would have squealed if I had stepped on something furry in the bathroom in the middle of the night. Ewwww!

Love the photo parade.

I don't like to drive........I'm so afraid of getting lost don't like the freeways. The only time I every drive the freeways is when I go to Canada. My sense of direction is very bad and my husband says "if I turn around in my backyard I will get lost".

We travel to Canada often as all my family live there. The first time I drove....I white knuckled it all the way to the border. In the 8 years we've been living in Michigan driving back to Canada by myself has only happened 3 times. I still follow my husband to the Ambassador Bridge and I take 2 GPS's with me just in case 1 of them fails. This is so quirky but sooooo true.

Hum, I’m not sure about quirky but I have been told that I tend to be “old fashion” and I love having that title. I love learning skills of the past like making homemade lye soap and quilt making.

I loved the parade and am so mad at myself for not participating in the Year of Schnibbles. I plan to join in this year's activities. I'm not covering my ironing board though, because I use a large rectangular ironing surface (like 36"x54") that is gridded in one-inch squares so I don't want to cover it.
Something that I guess is quirky about me is that I'm naturally pretty flexible, and on my 50th birthday last year I did a cartwheel and the splits at the Homecoming Pep Assembly at the high school where I was teaching.

Yikes! I have to admit to something quirky? Hmmm. Well I am afraid of fire so badly that I cannot light a candle, set the pilot light on the oven, light the charcoal on the grill, etc... I stand far away as possible when someone else does these things. I guess it started when I was about 4 and got my finger burned when I stuck it in an open flame on the stove. Either that or my brain has quirks.

oh, a fun giveaway post. I've bookmarked so I can look at all those blogs more closely with such great work. :D

Funny story: I took many years of spanish but never used it. The hubs went to Puerto Rico for work and I finally started using it 1/2-way into the trip. At the end, at a gas station hubs couldn't find the men's room and asked me to go in and ask (they were all speaking spanish in this area, no English translations like you see elsewhere).I went in, couldn't find it either so asked the attendent, in spanish for the men's room. He replied, in spanish, the women's? I answered, in spanish, no the men's. He switched to English (by now we had 4 people watching with interest) and asked, the women's? Again, I replied, in English, the men's.

He told me it was outside around the building. Okay, gracias. Their curiosity was palpable as I walked away. I went out, feeling 5 sets of eyes watching me and promptly told the hubs.

What a generous giveaway, thank you for the chance to win. Let's see something funny....when I was at college my freshman year, my grandmother had to move in with my parents due to some health issues. When I returned home for the summer, I was not ready for the extra person in the house. One morning while using the only bathroom in house for a bath, my mom came in and whipped the curtain shut saying that it was an emergency and my grandma had to use the bathroom. My mom had a bit too much trust in grandma's balance and she fell in the tub on top of me. Of course, I could not see it coming and my mom was chanting "you saved grandma, you save grandma". Till this day, if you bring this story up....my mom will still say...you saved grandma. LOL...I'd love to win it all but I am particularly fond of that adorable pumpkin

Other than a large collection of fabric, I stash books! Love them and thus my husband has now bought me an e-reader, so he doesn't have to build an addition. Recently, I went shopping and purchased a used book for my daughter. When I brought it home, she reminded me I bought it a couple years ago and put up on the shelf for her to read when she was older. Guess now's the time. haha! Oops!
