my flying geese...
my "Picnic" quilt by Thimble Blossoms...
(my Word: Picnic)
(my Word: Picnic)
that's ready and waiting for borders!
Did you see this new book that is just being released by Kim Brackett at Magnolia Bay Quilts?
I loved the fun scrappy quilt on the cover and when I found out
(via e-mail from that sweet Kim herself) that the quilt is called Picnic...
I knew that I was going to have to make it for sure!
and this is the ancient heating pad I mentioned...
and here it is with a new cover. Flannel, notice the way the threads are sticking to it!
I did add a little hole on the side for the cord to go through and made it envelope style.
And this is what I did with my butterflies...

I like the butterfly quilt the way it is, but I'm sure it will look amazing no matter what you choose :) I love the dark background for the butterflies! Your heating pad cover is great.....my heating pad is my friend when I have trouble with my lower back. It makes a big difference!
I love your butterfly quilt. I have used some of the same line before. I am wondering how big the quilt is? From the picture it looks long and narrow but that could be the angle of the picture. Otherwise I would put outside borders of the solid fabric so the quilt was wider. But either way, it is beautiful.
Ohhh...you have inspired me to make a new cover for my best friend! My heating pad is never far away...drat that arthiritis! Yours is wonderful. And I do like the butterfly quilt as is...what if you added a tiny dark border to the edges of the butterfly rows? Whatever you do it looks lovely...and I love the picnic quilt!
Fun cover for your heat pad...it will be nice & snuggly for you. The sewing & book looks good.
I love your butterfly quilts! I would leave this one theway it is too! but I'm sure you'll come up with something amazing!
hugs, margie
So glad the camera and cord found each other - what loveliness! I'd almost feign aches and pains in order to use that heating pad! And I like the wide rows between the butterflies.
I think I LOVE your flying geese!!!! =) I can't wait to find time to sew my Bliss charm pack into something. =)
Very nice work.
I have to say, I prefer last weeks, but that may be all about colour. Sorry, no help am I.
It's great to catch up on all your pictures. I'm looking out for that book, I want one.
I really love how it looks now. I think it's beautiful!
You have been busy! What a great cover for your heating pad. Love that idea. I am no help with the butterflies--can't decide!
You have really been busy-----the heating pad will you warm and the butterfly quilt to cover you. It is good to see you back, hope your husband is feeling better.
You have been busy. I like the swirly pattern on the fabric columns in the butterfly quilt. I think you should leave it as is.
I love your butterfly blocks and colours, I prefer thinner columns.
But is your quilt !Hugs
I'm glad you found your camera cord! You have some beautiful projects to share today. I love the butterfly quilt. The wider sashing will really lend itself to some beautiful quilting.
I love your quilts...and the cover quilt on Kim's book is already on my list, too...how fun that it is called picnic!
Loving everything you've done! Your butterfly quilt is very pretty. I would add a couple more rows to it. It looks too skinny to me but maybe it's the way the picture was taken?
You've been so busy! I love the butterfly quilt! (Have I told you my favorite color is brown? My husband tells me all the time that brown is not a oolor.) These fabrics are so nice.
Like the fancy new heating pad, too.
Thanks so much for your kind words about the book. I can't wait to see your version of the Picnic quilt!
Very pretty projects - Picnic is the WORD (smile)! I like this one the way it is - I think it makes the butterflies stand out!
I think I would add even a little border to the outside, so the butterflies float on the whole quilt. Love the colors. Love the idea about the heating pad cover, I should give mine a little love. Have some lovely flannel - flannel and warmth just go together.
I like the butterfly quilt the way it is. simply stunning.
Love it just the way it is. Very Japanese. Very zen. It is beautiful.
