A Little Giveaway Is Just The Right Medicine Today

Hannah has had to come to work with me this past week.

She's been a little sad and I have been a bit stressed.
Life has thrown us a little curve with my husbands health.
Hospitals are just no fun at all.

So we decided that since we just made a 250th post and we now have over 400 followers
we should do something more happy and have a celebratration!

So let's have a giveaway or two!

I had decided that I am focusing on embroidery this year so
I thought a little embroidery kit would be fun.

And I love turtles. I had made a few of these turtles and I love them! But instead of making one for you right now...
I thought we could giveaway a kit of Henrietta Turtle too.

So just leave a comment to enter the giveaway.
And as I believe that laughter is the best medicine...
something along those lines would be nice to share with the hubs.
The giveaway will continue through January 19th.

Awesome giveaway. Well some humor...hmmmm...I had to go to the doctor today because I've been suffering for several days with migraine. They had to give me TWO shots AND guess where they put them... not in my arm, but the other place. Nice. :-) Haven't gotten a shot there since I was a kid!! Soooo painful so now I have literally a pain in my _ _ _ ...bottom!! LOL!

A blonde had just purchased some lingerie and asked if she might have the sentence, “If you can read this you’re too damn close” embroidered on her panties and bra.
“Yes Madame,” said the clerk. “I’m quite certain that could be done. Would you prefer block or script letters?”
“Braille,” she replied

What do you call a snowman on roller blades?

A snow mobile

What does a snowman have for breakfast?

Ricicles because they are twicicle as nice!

What do you get when you cross a snowman and a vampire?

Frost bite!

Such a cute turtle! The VERY first thing I ever sewed as a child was a green/gold felt turtle that I stuffed with gravel from the driveway! It wasn't nearly as cute as your giveaway but to me at age 8 - it was fabulous! I've raised my standards since then!! Hope your husband feels better real soon! Congrats on your blog milestone! julie stchsluv@aol.com

Oh I hope your hubby is doing okay. Hang in there girl. The turtle is adorable and so is Hannah! Hmmm...humour. My daughter posted a pic on facebook of my 7 year old grandson reading the book, The Joy of Being Broke. When she asked him why, he said, "because you won't raise my allowance, I have to figure out how to be happy about it!"
Have a blessed day my friend!

Hope everything works out with your dh. True story. We have a new 4 month old puppy that sleeps in the utility room that has a doggie door so he can go outside. In the morning, as soon as he hears the coffee grinder go off, he runs outside, up the deck stairs and waits to be let back in the house. Smart Dog! LOL

Hey Sinta! Great give away. I'm so sorry to hear that your hubby is having health problems. Here's a little something you can share with him...

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates, and a half bottle of scotch.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now.

Hope that gives him a chuckle! :o)

XOXO,

Cyndi

So...there's an old lady in the local congregation that surprises a burglar in her kitchen. She has no weapon, all she can think to do is hold up her hand and shout, "ACTS 2:38!"

The burglar freezes in fear, and cowers in a corner while the little old lady calls 911. When the police arrive, and officer asks how she subdued the thief. She says, "I just quoted a scripture."

"SCRIPTURE?" yells the criminal. "I thought you were telling me you had an axe and two .38's!"

Love your blog, and thanks for the giveaway, but most of all, prayers going up for your husband and for you!

A car mechanic received a repair order that said to check for a clanking noise when going around corners so he took the car out for a test drive and made a right turn, then a left turn, each time hearing a loud clunk.

When he arrived back at the garage he returned the car to the service manager with this note: 'Removed bowling ball from trunk.'

Hope your DH feels better soon. Thanks for a chance.

Ok, my funny hubby story. My husband works a second job as a cop in a small town. But that little town is the home of the now famous Missouri Star Quilt Company. I needed a turnover for a project so I called Jenny and asked her to hold one for me at the register and that my husband would be in to get it.

He walked into the store and asked for the "pop tart" that his wife had on hold up at the counter.

Ps...I am just starting stitchery and need all the practice i can get. Just look at my Monday's post.
PSS...I would love to kiss that sweet doggy.

Hi Sinta, so sorry to hear your sweetie's in the hospital, been dealing with that myself w/my son. NOT fun, i know. I don't have any jokes, but an amusing story(maybe) My son is tattooed from neck to calf, and has tubes running here there and everywhere,in addition he refuses to wear a gown. One of his tatooes is of a bandage, presumably over something...don't ask me, i don't know, anyway he awoke a few days ago to a nurse frantically scrubbing, trying to get the bandaid off! He had asked for them to get some of the tape residue, and she couldn't tell the difference...best wishes and prayers to the both of you...overtheroadquilter~deb~

A get well joke: A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix. The doctors operated and advised him that all was well. However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs on his chest. Worried that it might be a second surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable. Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily.

Written in large black letters was the sentence:

"Get well quick, from the nurse you gave a ticket to last week."

You and your husband are in my prayers.

Deb said...

What a great giveaway...I need to learn embroidery! And turtles are my favorite! Here's a little something I just read on the IV man blog...he writes humorous commentary and jokes to give you a quickie Instant Vacation.

Well, this isn't funny--funny....but it does make you think. So maybe it will make your husband feel that he's not too bad off after all:

One day a wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them."

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are."

Sorry to hear about your DH's health problems. My funny story involves a big dog. We were out driving in a lot of traffic and the car in front of us had a big dog hanging out the window. I always enjoy seeing this anyway. We followed the car for a while and the dog kept looking forward. Finally it turned around and it had goggles on and looked so funny. I think they are recommending that dogs that hang out car windows wear these now but it was the first time I saw it!
Your giveaways look great. I have started doing more embroidery now also, very portable. Congratulations on your blog milestones.

So sorry to hear that your DH has not felt well. Dealing with flu-like viruses here. At least my "patients" are on the mend. I LOVE turtles. My DS was a Teenage Ninja Turtle Fanatic (still is at 19) I would love to make the Henrietta Turtle kit:)The only funny I can think of this morning is my doxie trying to do his "business" in our unexpected snow. When you are that low to the ground, it's hard to find a spot. He can't figure out where his grass went. Snuggling under quilts, is what he is resorting to:) Take care!

Hannah is such a sweet lil pup! I am sorry to hear that your hubs is in the hospital... we almost had to bring mine to the hosp the other day, he was building his first birdhouse and managed to staple his thumb to one board and glue his hand to another, we have no idea how he did that at the same time and he won't say, lol, but we were lucky that the injuries were minor and we were able to take care of it all here at home ;)
Thanks for sharing with us!

I'm hoping to do more embroidery this year, too. I've made a Henrietta Turtle and just love her.
I hope your hubby gets better real soon. I have a hospital funny he might like:
Two young boys are on gurneys on opposite sides of a hospital hallway. One asks the other, "what are you here for?" The other says "I'm having my tonsils out". The first boy says "oh, that's easy. I had that done a couple months ago. It's great, you get to eat all the ice cream you want". The second boy asks,"how about you, what are you here for?" The first boy says, "I'm here to get circumsized." The other boy says "Oh man, that stinks! They did that when I was born. I couldn't walk for a year!" =)

Congrats on your milestones. Maybe this true story will give your husband a laugh.
My friend and her hubby were having a disagreement so she leaves the house to get away from it. She is driving down the road and hears sirens, so she pulls to the side and waits but sees no emergency vehicle so she continues on her way. Soon after, she hears the sirens again and does the same thing. Then it happens again. She thinks, "Where are these sirens coming from?". Just as she is about to pull away for the third time there is a thump on the back of her car. Then a policeman says to her "Lady, if you pull away one more time, you are in big trouble!". Of course, she didn't have her purse because she left the house in a huff. He gave her a warning for something minor and she had to bring in her license within 24 hours.

Oh I love turtles! My grandmother used to crochet little turtles that held a bar of soap and it worked as a scrubber, they were wonderful. I still have one that she made and I just put a fresh bar of soap in it about once a month and sit it in a decorative dish on the bathroom counter. It works like an air freshener. I do hope your hubby is doing well and will keep both of you in my prayers. As for a funny...I don't know your age, but we are in our 60's and after my hubby had a heart attack at 58 he told one of his young nurses that the "Only thing golden about our senior years is our urine"...Some truth to that, LOL. Two funny things for you today, in honor of the ice outside!
1. my large yellow lab needed to do his business outside and every time he squatted down, he slid down the hill on the ice. I was laughing my butt off!
2. My kitten has now been fascinated by the birdwatching at our back door. The other day he was watching and kind of running along the door hoping to catch one, when it flew off and he ran after it...straight into the wall.
Cute pics by the way!

Once upon a time, I went to a school that had certain rights of initiation...and one of them was to provide entertainment at meal times in the form of jokes. Well, I am terrible at telling jokes, and didn't really like the people I was sitting with so I got the bright idea to tell such terrible jokes that they would never, ever want to hear a joke from me again.

Jokes like...
Q: What do you call a fish with no eyes?
A: A fssssshhhhhhhh!!!! (sounds better told enthusiatically)

or

Q: What do you call a sleep walking nun?
A: A roamin' catholic

Guess what happened? They loved it!! I was forced to tell terrible jokes for months... so hopefully these examples bring a smile to your face as well :)

And your turtle is adorable, and inspiring so I'm hoping to get to make it someday. I hope your husband feels better soon.

I went to a workshop once on laughter therapy. The woman presenting it was short and squat and sort of homely and dressed to accentuate her differentness. She talked about laughter and how it can heal and ever so often (like every five minutes) she would just start laughing - an affected laugh is as good as a real laugh according to her, because and affected laugh quickly becomes real. She had most of us rolling on the floor laughing for the three hours the class went on.

MY guys like guy kind of jokes. I found this one online, I hope it isn't "bad".

A dentist a nurse and a army general are flying.

The dentist decides to drop a tooth brush out of the plane. The nurse drops down a medical kit and the army general drops a bomb.

They land the airplane and see what happened...

First they found a guy looking for his false teeth.

Next they found a guy bandaging his wounds.

Lastly they found a young boy laughing his head off.

They asked him what happened and he said, "My grandfather farted and blew up his house."

Trying to think of something to lighten your day... although (since I'm catching up on my blog reading) I find that your hubby is feeling better and better... which is a good thing. Not so sure about your hubby in the health dept. but mine is well... a bit of a non conformist... he doesn't like to go to the dr.'s and when he finally does it's like pulling teeth to get him to take any meds that the dr. may prescribe! He told me once that he doesn't want to be taking meds for the rest of his life (mind you he is only 56!) and sooo I told him that he is preaching to the choir here... (I have to take a thyroid supplement since mine is gone!) Basically he digs in his heels a bit... I love him to pieces and hey I'm all for not taking any kind of meds if it can be helped... but what's a girl to do! LoL...
Give the dog a hug and your guy a kiss and tell him we hope that he is better soon! Nothing like a blog for keeping a secret about one's health! LoL.... just kidding!
We will keep him in our prayers!
