I have been M.I.A. for a while now...
from blogland and my sewing room.
Sewing is definitely a happy place for me,
and I just can't create
at all while under stress.
My poor DH has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks in the ICU unit.
I didn't want to share much before...
but now it seems that we are mostly over the hurdle
and he is on a slow road to getting better.
The surgery was actually planned, and as my hubby prepared, I prepared
mentally and just to be safe,
I colored my hair prior to going!
Seriously.
Anyway, I want to thank everyone who knew and sent us extra prayers
and good wishes.
We have an army of angels on our team and are so very thankful for that!
So, even though there are still many
days ahead of special care for my DH,
I can exhale a little
and give a sigh of relief now.
So no snuggling for me this year yet...
but I did finally enter my sewing room, last night, brushed away some of the cob webs (kidding)
and embarked on my first block of Swoon!
I am using Nine Dot by Carrie Nelson.
Does it bother you to see the little stripes going
in different directions in
a block?
Here are some of the other color combos I have picked.
Oh, and I did make this little sampler
from Temecula Quilt Co. Twelve Days of Christmas Mystery.

Your projects are so beautiful! I've been doing the exact same sewing as you... I just posted about my Swoon block, and my 12 Days top is waiting for me to get around to quilting it.
I'll pray for your husband and for you! I'm glad to hear that the hard part is behind you both.
Take care, Kimberly
Reading your post, it is understandable that you were mia and certainly a stressful period for you. Good to hear DH is over the hurdle and I will be sending positive energy your way
I am so happy to hear that things are going well for your DH. I have been praying all the while, and will continue to do so!
Beautiful blocks, Sinta! And no, the lines going in different directions didn't bother me a bit....in fact, I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. I think they just flow!
XOXO,
Cyndi
Take care, both of you...and hope you get some more sewing time in soon.
Good to hear that things are looking good! The lines going different directions don't bother me, I think because it's a smaller scale print, it actually adds a bit of movement.
Sorry to hear your husband had such an ordeal. Hope the road to recovery is a speedy one. I will say an extra prayer for him and all your family.
Love your projects - I love the fabric in your Swoon block.
Take care -
Prayers for your dh's recovery! I hope you're able to get some sewing time now that he's recuperating.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! A little Swooning is a great place to start back. Didn't even notice the stripes until you mentioned it. Your block looks great!
Prayers for your husband's continued progress.
Hugs to you.
I happy to hear that your husband is getting better. My thoughts and prayers are still with you. I like your Swoon block and no, I don't mind the stripes not matching directions. With the stripe style, you really can't tell. Hugs!!!
Prayers for both you and hubby during this difficult time. I know the angels are with you and have you in their care.
I was wondering where you were but very happy to hear that things are better and you are back.
I'll add you and your sweetheart to my prayers.
Loving your Swoon block.
Sinta, hope your hubby continues to improve. I'm sure it's not easy. Will send prayers and positive thoughts. Nice to have you back. Enjoyed seeing your Swoon and love the little sampler! Take care.
I certainly know what you have been going through and will for awhile. Do hope all goes well with hubby;s recovery. Getting in the quilt room and making blocks as you did always gets rid of that stress.
Your block is great and also your little Mini.
Hi Sinta. I'm happy your husband is doing better. I like your Swoon block and mini quilt too.
Oh, Sinta, I'm glad your hubby is recovering and will be better soon. I will keep you and your hubby in my thoughts and prayers.
Your projects are beautiful.
(hugs)
Blessings to your hubby. That is a long time to hold vigil in an ICU unit. I am glad you were able to take a little break and let yourself create for a spell. Your block looks great. (The direction of the strips doesn't bother me a bit, and you know, once it is machine quilted you will notice it even less!) Swoon is my 2012 goal and I'm having a disaster of a time choosing my fabrics. Such a hard decision! I actually just bought some of that Carrie Nelson fabric the other day, and I agree that those will make a lovely Swoon!
Best wishes for a continued road to recovery for your husband. My prayers will be with your family as he regains strength and good health. You take care of you too!
So good to hear your DH is improving. You have been in my thoughts so much and I'm glad that you have had some sew-therapy. It's so good for you to renew your spirit with some sewing. I really like your Swoon block, I need to get back to mine. Take care of yourself, my friend :-)hugs. Kay
So glad your husband is on the improve...nice to see you back.
I will keep you both in my prayers - take care of yourself and a little sewing therapy is just what you need.
Take care
Dorothy
Lovely Swoon block, and I love the different stripe directions ...
Keeping all crossed for your husb and you xxx
Good to hear things are better with your DH! You'll get time to sew when things are back to normal :o)
Take care,
Laila
I'm so glad your husband is on his way to recovery. And also glad you got a chance to play for a little while. I love your Swoon block.
Prayers for your DH! I am torn on the same direction. I like order and 'planed' chaos! LOL But we are each our own artist!
So glad to hear that your husband's on the road to recovery! I'll be thinking about y'all and praying that the rest of the recovery is restful and uneventful!
Stripes can go any direction and I'm fine with it.
I'm really glad to hear your husband is getting better. Mine was in the ICU many times and I know how stressful it is on you and the rest of the family. You're all still in my prayers.
Thoughts and prayers for your hubby to continue improving and regaining his health! Take care of yourself too!
I am sorry to hear about your DH but hope that the worst is over . I will send you some prayers and a big hug. Blessings Sandra
Sinta I'm so glad your hubby is doing better...sending lots of good thoughts for both of you...please take care. Love your Swoon blocks...they're wonderful in 9 dots...and no, the lines going in different directions don't bother me at all...I think it gives the block movement...Love it!
Prayers for healing. Sorry you have been through a rough patch. Hope all gets better soon.
And no, the stripes do not bother me.
I'm so glad Hubby is on the road to recovery. I shall keep you both in my prayers. Take care of yourself as his nurse.
Beautiful things you are working on.
Hugs to you,
Rebecca
Love the blocks. Nice to get caught up with you.
I've been a little slow to get to all my favorite blogs and just read this post. I hope your husband is continuing to make a good recovery.
