But Mostly I've Been Here

This is the view from the front of the VA Hospital in Palo Alto.
I don't know why I haven't bought a sweatshirt yet to show where I spent my vacation... and the next one... and the next one after that! I think the hubs and I should actually get matching ones.
Although this is normally a rule... NOT to dress alike!
But I think he would love one, to replace the hospital gown he has been in since the first of the year. But I actually want one that says Stanford. All of the interns wear those and I think I have been there long enough now to be an intern, don't you?
I have to just say this:
He is getting phenomenal care and the staff is beyond professional... they are genuinely caring.
Nothing could give me greater comfort while we work our way through this health issue.
I stay near the facility and I have had the honor of meeting so many people and their amazing families, undergoing treatment.
This is the major place on the West Coast for brain trauma, poly trauma and cardio thorasic surgery. Mrs. Biden and her staff were visiting here just a few weeks ago. That was so nice.
I have a friend who does quilting for Quilts of Valor and she gave me several quilts, gathered from several women, to take with me for the service men and women I meet. This is such a sweet gesture and so well appreciated. And that is what gets me.
I was going to write here more on that subject but it really is too emotional for me. Next thing you know, the ink will start to smear and you won't be able to read anything!

But I do venture out from here and I visited Prairie Queens quilt shop, after seeing it on PKM blog! I also found a shopping mall (photos in the last post... of their flowers there). They have a Pottery Barn for Kids there... a perfect place for someone like me who is about to become a grandma.
I found a cook book for some light reading! It has scalloped pages.. just too cute! The bakery is not too far away from Palo Alto. It's just a quick trip into San Francisco. But I really recommend this book. It's keeping me entertained anyway.

Hi Sinta! I have been continually praying for your hubby and you...and think about you all the time. I am so happy to hear that he is receiving such good care, and that they are caring for you, too!

It's also nice that there are some good distractions in the form of quilt shops close by. Did you bring your little featherweight with you?

Stay well, my friend, and know that you are being lifted up every day!

XOXO,

Cyndi

The VA takes wonderful care of our Veterans, my hubby being one of them. I'm so glad your hubs is getting such great care and I just want you to know that you are both in my thoughts and prayers each and every day. And oh my gosh, you went to Prairie Queens quilt shop!!! I've heard super things about them. Did you find some treasures??? Big Hugs...

Oh Sinta! I spent 16 days in Palo Alto in 2007 while my hubby had reconstructive heart surgery at Stanford and my father in law was at the Veteran's hospital for cancer treatment.... Both facilities are amazing - and the staff... well, they earn their angel wings every day!

I hope you're staying in the Hometel? If not, ask about it!

God's blessings to you both for health and strength!

There are some great quilt shops around there! If you go north on El Camino Real, for about 5-6 miles, you'll run into The Laurel Leaf and Quilter's Studio, and Always Quilting - all in San Mateo.
Their addresses and contact info are here: http://www.quiltersmarchmadness.com/participating.htm

Be well, and take care of you, too!

xoxo

Hubs and I took my brother-in-law there a few years back for an appointment. I was so impressed by the employees. Each and every one greeted you whether you were in an office or merely passing in the hall. Wonderful place indeed!

I'm so glad to hear he's doing better and getting wonderful care. Any idea of when you can both go home? (Since I'm pretty sure it will be both of you.) Your family is still in my prayers. Do they have a place for family to stay like the Ronald McDonald houses for families of children? I know how expensive Palo Alto is. It looks like you've been out and about. The quilt shop looks wonderful.

Hoping that soon you will both return home. If you get a chance, that Elizabeth GambleGarden is nearby and is a beautiful spot all year round. Grab a sandwich and have a picnic. I am sorry I dont remember the street it is on. It's so beautiful and peaceful there.
