The thing about Block of the Month projects...
it takes at the very least a year to make... and if you
are like me and just collect the patterns for the first year,
then try to catch up... it takes over two years to make it!
Now, I suppose the upside to that is that you get lots and lots of enjoyment
from the project. Each month I am excited to see my new block come in the mail.
I look over the pattern and touch the fabric in the kit.
Then it repeats all over again the second year... but this time I actually cut the fabric
and start putting the blocks together.
And then I always wonder... why didn't I work on this right away? I love this!!!
Well, that is the case with most of the block of the month's I have signed up for.
There have been those that I end up not liking the quilt at all.
There are those that you couldn't force me to make for one reason or another
and an occasional one that is just too advanced for me... like those
that include beautiful applique. I'm starting to think that you actually have to
do the applique in order to get better at it.
All in all, I am so happy to have this one ready for the final step.
How was your rehab progress this week?

Your blocks are gorgeous! I really understand what you mean..I was in one BOM where the kit arrived every month and I loved it, and petted the fabric and read and re-read the pattern and only made one block in a full year. So now I am on year two, and still have only made one more block. By my calculations, this might take me ten more years...giggle. You continue to inspire me, so maybe this week I'll do block 3, rather than waiting until next year!
Oh my history with BOM projects is terrible. LOL
I'm loving your project, Sinta.
Congratulations on your finish! That's a very cute quilt!
That is beautiful! I love the navy fabric. I've got one I need to finish, but I don't like tbe fabric anymore and I'm stuck on fabric choices for the remaining blocks. Congrats to you for finishing one that is outstanding :-D
I agree completely with what you said....boy I love getting them, then there's the follow through. But thanks to you and our weekly check in's I'm actually starting to make progress!!
Beautiful Sinta!! I totally agree with you analogy as to why it takes 2 years (or more) to do a BOM. We have to let it age while we look and pet the fabric! LOL
I love the fabrics in that quilt. I usually have to add on another year. Usually takes me that long to get around to quilting it.
What wonderful blocks! Oh you said it perfectly! I have some BOM's that have aged very nicely...LOL!
I love your quilt. I know what you mean. I finally finished a BOM from 2011 and linked it on your post. I still have quite a few left to do. Hugs
Yes, yes, yes. I have my little boxes - marked and dated and ready for me. I love knowing they are there. Every now and then I buy a little extra fabric in the collection and put it in the box, in case I need it. Love your quilt - would like to see a bigger overall picture of it. Looks like you are doing great at applique!
Oh my word - beautiful, just beautiful! I have a container just with a BOM I'm in and not one is done. It's one I cannot wait to tackle. The BOMs are still arriving in the mail and then they immediately go into the storage bin.
I'm Bad.
Your blocks are beautiful!! What an adorable quilt. :0)
VERY pretty! I need to get on my BOM blocks from 2012. I'm still collecting. I haven't even busted them out. The envelope comes and I tuck it away. I'm hoping to get to it soon. It's high time I did!
