DST Giveaway: Day #5

I have a collection of 6- half yards Kathy Schmidt
fabric and a sweet little pattern called Endless Summer
for the DeStashing Time (aka daylight savings time) giveaway today.
The little chick was just on my desk and wanted to be in the picture...
so she isn't part of the giveaway. I will find a couple more little patterns
to sweeten the pot though.
If you are interested leave me a comment. I loved reading
your comments yesterday about what you are celebrating.
So, maybe today you could comment and tell me if you are a
Pinterest addict (like me).

I had my friend pick a winner again for me.
(I hate doing that)... fortunately Rhonda has
no political or blogging ties... so she is completely
impartial and the perfect person for the job!

The winner for giveaway #3...  the Graceful Stitch book on applique:
the winner is: Ramona who said:
I do the freezer paper/liquid starch applique method. It takes awhile to make your pieces but then you glue baste them down and they are ready to pick up and sew when you want. You must do a post about the dresden corners. Does the regular binding go under those dresden points or just end at them?

Last week I mentioned a book that I love by Edyta Sitar called Scrapppy Fireworks.
A friend of mine had made a quilt from it... and now I have been having dreams
about making something from the book too!
Luckily I have been going through some of my stash to do these little giveaways
because I found a clear zippered bag (the kind you buy at quilt shops, usually with their logo on it),
and look what was inside of it...
Looks like I had a win also!!!
Now that I found it, I remember one of those sales
where it was $$$ for XXX fat quarters.
I remember I bought 50...
and Rhonda bought 50 also.

We weren't even at the store...
(because it was several hours away)
they mailed 100 fat quarters to us!
They picked them out from the description
of style that we asked for.

I had these cut... to make "something"...
but it looks like the rest of it will be perfect to
make a different "something" from that book!
I am tickled pink!

I am not a Pinterest addict - in fact, it's one of the few time-gobblers that I've managed to avoid - so far. That's not to say that I don't spend way too much time on the computer.

Donna said...

Although I am not a Pinterest addict, I do enjoy spending random amounts of time there - usually when I am looking for something specific. My work is with a wedding/special event rental company and we see so many brides who find the cutest DIY projects on Pinterest.

I love Pinterest, but I'm not sure I would call myself an addict. I think ardent fan might describe me better. I am a blog addict. I love keeping up with other quilters and reading about what they are doing.

JustPam said...

I am trying to limit my time on blogs and pinterest. They are so time consuming. On top of that I get too many ideas of more things I want to make or do. I don't have enough time with working full time to do what I already want to do without getting more ideas!

I do not do Pinterest - I find inspiration in things around me.

I LOVE Pinterest! I've yet to start my own but love scouring through others pins when time permits OR I'm looking for something special. Just last night i typed Pinterest Swoon quilts in my search engine and what a fun find! I even found that Pinterest pins are some of the best recipes!

I guess I can count myself as being a fellow addict. How is it that I can decide to just spend a few minutes checking some of the newest pins and come up for air two hours later? :)

Kim said...

I am not a Pinterest addict. I only go on there to pin so my account has something new.

Joyce said...

I have occasionally looked but have not set up a site of my own...I am so addicted to just following blogs, I'm afraid to start something new!

Izzy said...

Not an addict... a fan maybe! :-) I'm not as active on my own account, but I love looking at other people's pins.

Unknown said...

I am not yet a Pinterest addict! I don't have time to be one. I'd have to give up my sewing time to spend more time on Pinterest. I do have an account and have a few pins but rarely spend time there. Thanks for the chance to win!

Annette said...

I love Pinterest! A great place for inspiration and for dreaming.

Redfinch said...

I'm not a Pinterest addict YET, but would be if I'd let myself... The first few times I browsed, I couldn't believe how much time I'd spent on it!
It certainly DOES stimulate my creativity though. Thanks for the opportunity to have some Kathy Schmidt fabric!

Sandy D said...

I am not a Pinterest addict.I have no idea what to do with it. I enjoy the blogs on google reader and there is not enough hours in the day for everything.

Sandie @ crazy'boutquilts said...

Great find! I can't wait to see the little somethings you make. ;-) I'd love to win your pattern and FQ's~ it looks like a very fun quilt. Thanks so much for the chances! As far as pinterest goes... I try not to look unless someone posts something cute. LOL I could lose whole days in there! ;-)

Exactly how much time I spent scrolling through Pinterest is gonna stay my secret! I'm retired. snow is still deep in my front yard. quilt projects caught up. I will trot our more excuses if you need them. I LOVE PINTEREST.

Thanks, Carolyn

Nope, I don't do Pinterest. I barely have time to read my emails and respond to comments lately. But I hear there are some beautiful things to see on Pinterest.

Anonymous said...

I visit Pinterest when one of the blogs I read makes a reference to it, but that's about it. I'm concerned that I will either spend too much time there, or that I will feel decidedly inferior because of all the incredible creativity .
Good luck w/ your destashing - it feels good to get things cleaned out, doesn't it?

JoAnne said...

While I have a Pinterest account, I don't spend much time there. I spend way too much reading blogs and writing my own! I need to spend more time in the sewing room and less on the computer!

sandra said...

I love Pinterest so much , it is so wonderfully easy instead of bookmarking or printing things you want To find again. I do find that sometimes I just spend too much time on it.

Sue at The Boar's Breath Ranch said...

I too found I was spending way too much time on Pinterest, so I keep to my favorite blogs - like you- for inspiration. Thanks so much.

Nope no pinterest account for me. If I had one I'd never get anything done, I do occasionally check out some pages but that's it. ;-> Toni Anne

I don't dare do Pinterest. If I spent as much time sewing as I do reading and getting inspiration from you wonderful bloggers, I would accomplish so much more. Therefore, do not want to add another addition. Thanks for such a wonderful give away. rhoystevens@gmail.com

OH Sinta, I have intentionally avoided visiting Pinterest, because I KNOW myself. If I did stop in there, I would not be able to pull myself away in a reasonable amount of time. Just way too much eye candy for my easily tempted self. That would have me spending even more time on the computer when I should be sewing (or choring, LOL) than I do now. So I had to make a choice, continue to visit the blogs I love each morning, or cut some of them off my list and add Pinterest in their place. Well, that was an unacceptable alternative because I love the group of blogs I visit each day and would truly be lost without a daily dose of them. Not to mention the friendships I have formed through them. So, I enjoy Pinterest vicariously through those of you who share your favorite picks from your on your blogs, giveing me the best of both worlds. Hugs...

If I were to work & keep up with my favorite blogs & fit in a few hours sleep & cook a meal here & there & add Pinterest...then there really would be no time to quilt & be creative cuz I' ve been told its wonderfully addictive! My best hope is that I may...one day...something I create might touch someones spirit enough that they choose to Pin it!

Love that fabric and even have a small piece or two in my stash, and I would be thrilled to take it off your hands.

I really don't follow Pinterest. They send me an email each week and if there's something about kids' art project, I look. That's about it, though. It gives me project ideas for the grandkids.

I don't follow Pinterest at all, I'm a blog follower and figure that takes up enough of my spare time, plus it pulls me away from quilting!
