Small but cute!
I made the remainder of the 25 mini Dresden's that I needed
for my quilt... along with half of the 16 medium sized Dresden blocks...
and I had already made the 16 large blocks.
So now I need to start making the centers for them!
The only problem is... is that
I can't find the template for making the centers!
I guess I can kind of judge by the picture here.
It looks like they used the background fabric for the centers.
I can do that.
What do you think...
Does the center look the same on the
small Dresden as the large one?
I had to look back at some of the other Dresden
styled quilts I have made to see what I had done in the past...
This had a regular center.
This quilt had a super large center.
I like the polka dots.
This one had a little face for the center.
This was for by Bees Knees sewing group!
Hmm, No help here... this isn't finished yet.
It was my Bees Knees project.
I guess I have more Dresden's to finish...
and more to make!
This is a new kit yet to be made...
oh, hey, I bet I can
look at the pattern here to see about the center template!
I am also going to take a closer look at the Patriotic Quilter and
Cupcake n Daisies blogs... because they made the one from the magazine too!
Hope you have a great week!
Thanks for visiting today!

Traditionally, if we didn't have a pattern for the center, we pressed the plate well, measured the diameter or the center area that was free of fabric, added 1 inch to that measurement, and cut our circle. The one inch allowed us a 1/4 inch turn under with the circle covering 1/4 inch of the plate petals.
I'm working on a Dresden quilt, and I think I ended up using the cookie jar lid for my template. I'm embroidering flowers on all my centers, so it's a little larger than tradition.
You can use anything!!
I would think it was all about personal preference. They will be gorgeous when they are finished.
Evie and her darling daddy are having some summer fun for sure. What a cute pair!
Sinta, I don't believe I know anyone who sews as much as YOU do. A-mazing! Such pretty Dresden pieces. You have the patience of Jobe.
xxoo
I just ordered the Gardenvale kit...my first Dresden quilt.
Oooh, I love these! I went to the McCall's website in search of the pattern you are using--so cute!--and noticed that a corrected version of the pattern download is available, since the original was inaccurate (http://www.mccallsquilting.com/mccallsquilting/articles/Digital_Issue_Downloadable_Pattern_Pull_Out_Section).
Your little dresedens are really cute, I mean really cute! A whole quilt with just these minis would be adorable.
I think the circle fabric is the same as the background and I know there's just one template for the center in the Dresden template instruction by Darlene Zimmermann.
I happen to be working on the same pattern, a long term project because we're also trying to sell the house and make a retirement move, so I can tell you that the centres are different for each. I could scan the templates in and send them if you like.
I love the little smiley face. How did you make the face. Love the dresden plate quilts. You did a beautiful job. Thanks for sharing.
I pulled out my copy of the magazine and I do have the circle templates> Templete D: 2 3/4" diameter, Template E: 2 1/2" diameter, and Template F: 2" diameter. Hope this helps.
Loving your dresdens! The one with the little face is just too sweet.
Those dresdens are just the cutest ! Thelma could probably help you with the template for these centers :-D
I thought the centers looked the same too, but from reading the comments they must be different. How nice that you will able to get the right templates from kind readers :-)
Oh my gosh, they are all so cute!! Love the little face on the one!!!!!
