All Work And No Play

or is it all play and no work???
Well, in my case I had taken Friday off from work
(because I just think it's wrong to work on your birthday)
so it was play, play, play over the weekend for me!

I was making my Picnic Roll-up by Thimble Blossoms
out of Verna... and now I'm ready for borders...
but since I bought the fabric before I knew what I was
going to use it for...
I didn't purchase any border fabric...
so now the hunt is on!

I also made this insulated tote bag for grocery cold items.
It is going to be one of my projects to teach at the retreat.

The problem with the change of seasons is that I am up early, very early, and
my picture taking isn't so good with the flash and light options.
But I thought I would show you my new toys!

I already shared that I love vintage children's sewing machines.
(this one is from the UK)
Right before my birthday I got a call, which led to a call...
which led to me scooping up on six, that's 6, vintage machines!
The one above is a reproduction... but still cute.

I have to try to get another shot of this one... but here it is for now.
It is from Germany pre-WWII.

This one is from Australia, I think.

This little guy is from 1970's USSR.

Ok, I have to share what I paid for them... you won't believe it!
The lady just wanted to get rid of them and sold them to me, the lot, for $30!
Happy birthday to me!

Happy Belated Birthday!! Looks like you have your share of a good time over the weekend. You look like you made out like a bandit on your machines which is always nice but especially nice when it's your birthday!

Happy Birthday indeed! I totally agree that a girl should never have to work on her birthday and I have gotten through almost 40 years of practicing the same. What a great treasure trove you found - how cool to have the international sewing machines. They are really cool. Hope it was a fabulous day for you!

Holy Happy Birthday, Batman! What a great present for yourself - not just the machines but the day off, too. I, too, think it is wrong to work on your birthday. Unfortunately, mine falls during busy season at work. Ugh! Your quilt is looking great!

NO WAY!!!! How great for you!!!
I had one that was somewhat similiar to the singer black one when I was a kid... I just can't remember if it was a singer or not!
Darn, if I only had it now!
On my mom's b/day I won a card of buttons from a designer... cause I guess how many buttons in a jar... 76... same age as my mom!
Today is my son's b/day... hmmm guess I had better look around for some sort of contest!
Hope you had a great birthday!
