I Wanna Play!

I have tried this once before.

Piecing granny squares with fabric.
 Not crochet.
I have to tell you that I have always had strong reactions to
fabric and patterns. When my step grandma would crochet these
granny square blankets I would actually feel sick looking at them.
Maybe it was acrylic yarn or the dark colors?
I have a hard time with Paisley like that too. And don't get me started with stripes!

But these granny squares that bloggettes are making
are very very cute!

Like this project by Renee at Sewn With Grace. I just love her blog.
(hope you don't mind Renee)

And now...
Lori Holt/Bee in My Bonnet along with Jodi from Pleasant Home
are going to host the Great Granny Along.
Yippee!
There have been some fun tutorials lately.
Trish over at Notes of Sincerity did
tutorial for granny squares... a large size and also
a small size. I had wanted to try it out.
I think that Renee had used Trish's tut.

They are popping up all over...
in fact... one popped up in my mail box
not too long ago.
I was in a small quilt swap hosted by Kris at Dandelion Quilts
and my swap partner was Jen of Miss Punkie Pie blog.
This is the beautiful  little quilt she sent me.
(sorry Jen I have a better photo but don't have my camera cord with me)

So I started wondering...
what did I do with that quilt I had started?
I remember it was this pattern by Laundry Basket Quilts
It seems that I got two blocks completed before
giving up.
So maybe this is the kick in the pants that I need
to get in gear again.
Especially since this will be a stress free obligation.
Do how many you want ... do a little... do a lot.
Okay then, I can commit to that!
And I don't feel sick at all!

I've been wanting to make one too! I may have to give up some sleep to get more hours in the day! :-)

Ha ha! I used to feel that way about crocheted granny squares and I'm sure it was because of the dark, polyester yarn. But I'm in love with them now! I just posted my first great granny block! Fun!

They look fun to make.... I still have a thing with paisley, it does my head in... but I have fond memories of my nana making granny squares for bed throws, dolls blankets, even ponchos....

I'm seriously tempted by the Great Granny quilt along! I haven't tried granny squares with fabric yet (I must be the only one in blogland!), but I do love crocheting them!

I have watched a few granny square QAL's come and go without even thinking of starting one. Even though I am addicted to QAL's. But when I seen that last pic you had posted, I have the perfect fabric collection to make that quilt.............guess I am starting yet another project. :D

I love the fabric grannies too. Just talked to my Mom. She is sitting on the dock, up at Bass Lake. She is up there with a big group of friends. They have 5 houses right on the water, up at Bass Drive. She arrived yesterday and went straight to The Forks for a burger. I am so jealous!!!!
