A Moment of Play

A couple of weeks ago, when I was on my winning streak...

I won a Crumber ruler from Carol at Carol's Crafty Creations!

Eight-six just became my lucky number!
I was so happy to have won a Crumbler...
because, although I had purchased a couple of them from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.
I had given both of them away!
It's a funny thing... because one of the winners of the Crumbler
was Carol!

Is that one of those...
what goes around comes around kind of things?

Either way, lucky me!
So, I finally allowed myself a few minutes to play with it.
Although I would love to use it on my scraps, I thought that I could
get much farther with my few minutes by just cutting into a charm pack.
Here is what I ended up with... but I'm not done playing. I want to
experiment with a few different configurations.
Because that's just how I play!

Sailaway Fig Tree Quilts

I do see some other playing out there on the horizon!

That's what they say "what goes around, come around, " and your little tumbler are so cute.

OH, I love it!!! I plan to order both sizes of Carrie's Crumblers, but after grocery shopping today, I will be waiting until next month to order mine, but I can't wait to get them and try them out. Especially when I see fun projects like yours. By the way, I love playing with layouts and seeing how many different designs I can get from the blocks/pieces etc. That's half the fun of quilting!!! Especially now that I have a BIG design wall. Though admittedly it is a quirky design wall. I bought Ecru fleece at 50% off, a box of large thumbtacks and tacked two ceiling to floor pieces of the fleece the only empty wall in my sewing room. Just happened to be covered with ugly wallpaper that will eventually have to be taken off. Knowing it will tear the wall up when I remove the paper, I figured a few thumbtack holes would be the least of my worries. LOL...by the way, the fleece holds much, much better than flannel, I am totally amazed. The cost for my entire wall, 5 1/2 yards of 60" wide fleece and one box of large thumbtacks...$22. It will hold a queen size quilt, but right now, I have several in process things up on it and loving the room I have. So yup, I'm ready to try some crumbler blocks as soon as I can order them. *\o/* hugs....
*sorry I got carried away about the wall, it's just that I've been using a flannel covered bunkboard that would only hold 4 12" blocks across. More hugs..

How funny! I just bought both sizes of the crumbler while on vacation. I can hardly wait to get home to try it out. I love that little fig tree sail boat patter!

That's cool that you used your Crumbler ruler, I haven't had a chance yet hopefully soon. I like that Sail Boat pattern too.
