SBS, Simply Retro and...

I am thrilled to show you one of my finishes for my Summer of Fun challenge.
I cut out the pieces over Memorial Day and started putting the rows together
last weekend. My goal was to finish Anchors Aweigh over the Independence Day weekend.
And I made it. The quilt is about 90" square.
I really enjoyed how this one went together... mosaic style.
I have a second kit... but I think I will save it for a future date.
As you can see
I still need to give it a pressing but this one will be ready to go to the LAQ
real soon!

I also worked on finishing my first quilt out of the
This is Swell.

Simply Retro book and I believe I am just under the wire
for getting it completed for the SR group hosted by Jana!

It was a fun and super fast quilt to make. I love
these easie peasie projects to fill in between the more labor intensive ones.

I have already started on the next quilt in the book, which is Simply Retro.

I decided to use some Lori Holt fabric as my "1" color for the quilt.
The fabric is from my stash, so I am counting this one for
Scrap Basket Sunday. I had purchased this fabric
on-line and thought I was ordering 5 yards, you know how places sell in half yard units?
Well, this store was in full yard units... so I ended up purchasing 10 yards instead of the 5.
But really, it was a happy mistake.. I didn't know what I was going to do with it.
At first  it was meant for a backing and I was
going to make a Swoon quilt with the coordinates.
So far though I have made an ironing board cover and now this project.
Swoon was made with a line of Carrie Nelson's instead.

In the book, Camille's Simply Retro quilt is aqua with one red block thrown in.
I thought I would use my fabric here and maybe throw in a pink block
for the accent.

Wow! The anchor quilt looks great! I bet that would be an easy one to accidentally mix up the color placement on. It's going to be stunning when it's quilted.
