Using A Boxing Term

As you might have read last week, my dad was in the hospital
after falling and breaking his hip socket. Actually it was shattered.
In a blink of an eye a life can change.
It can take away someone you love.

I am so sorry to say that it did.

He had been a feisty man... his entire life.
Yet he had a huge soft spot too!

I have to call it a T.K.O.
(technical knock out, in boxing terms)

Yesterday there was an intense storm in my area.
There was thunder just rolling above for a half an hour and
wind so strong it blew the rain sideways.
There was even hail.

Hail in July!?!
I thought to myself...
awe, my dad made it to Heaven!

I knew he would make a ruckus when he got there!

I also knew these things about him...
he was a dreamer.
he told stories... often and repeatedly. (smile)
he made me laugh.
he loved his mother.
he was a good man.

So sorry to hear about your dad!
Although we didn't get any hail down here in Bakersfield, we did get plenty of stormy weather announcing you dad's arrival in heaven!"
Take care!

You painted a picture of a man I would very much have liked to know. I think he would have gotten along beautifully with my dad--and right now heaven has two of the great ones. Thank you for sharing your memories of him at such a tender time.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Sinta. Some years ago, my dad and mom were in a car accident (my dad was driving, got confused, and stepped on the gas instead of the brake); he had bleeding in his brain, but he had been on blood thinners like your dad, and they couldn't do surgery. Life IS fragile and can change at any moment--it's good to be reminded now and then so we can fully appreciate those who are still with us. Hugs to you.

I grew up on the east coast where we had thunder and lightning storms. At some point I learned that the angels were mopping the floors of Heaven and when there was thunder that one of the angels had knocked over a bucket. How special it was that there was hail announcing your father's arrival in Heaven. I am so sorry that your father's time on earth is over. I hope you have many other memories of your father and his presence in your life which will help you at this time.

Oh Sinta, I am so sorry for your loss. My mama passed away in CA and we had to fly home to TX the next day. To keep me from erupting in a plane full of stranges, passenger, flight crew, I tried hard to envision my mother in the light of the farmhouse in the 50's, an apartment in CA in the 60's, her smile on presenting turkey or Christmas dinner. It became natural to see her in that light rather than where she was in that small window of time near leaving us. It helped me keep some cool on the plane home and then afterwards when I was so far from home. I'm sure you have many memories of your Dad you can envision to help you pass over that small margin of time that he was on his way to Heaven. The storm and the hail tells me you are coping and will be all right. Hugs. Stephani in N. TX (Tomazec@aol.com)

I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Those falls and the hips in the elderly... Nothing can replace your sweet Dad, and nothing I can say can make it better, but you will be in my prayers that Heavenly Father's comfort will surround you. And I'll bet that thunderstorm was God's way of communicating to you that he is aware of you especially at this time. Hugs and more hugs, H in Healdsburg
