Under Construction

The quilt fairy didn't show up!

I went ahead and started the re-organization by myself.
It is not unlike a demolition.
This is the start of day 1. Closet 1.
I'm going to go by my LQS and get some more empty
bolts for the larger cuts of fabrics in my stash.

My hallway is
still passable... but I have a feeling that it won't be
as this progresses.
I had to keep it out of my sewing room for fear I would have
a complete breakdown.
(and knowing that it wasn't going to stay contained in there anyway)
I am trying to group things into
flannel/wool
backgrounds
Fall/Primitive
Spring/light
Contemporary
Batik...
and maybe narrow it down from there.
hmmm, messiness.

The railing is stacked with mostly quilt tops.
Some are from long, long ago.
Most are more recent projects and shop samples.

If you see the grass that needs mowing outside... just ignore it...
I did! How does it grow that fast anyway? I just cut it last week.
However, I did manage to wash my car!

I also played with my Crumbler quilt some more.
I had it very "organized"... alternating print fabric, white background...
but for some reason... I changed it to this.
Do you think it was a reflection of my sewing room?
hmmm, modernness?

Oh, there was one more thing I played with this weekend...

We had some "Evie time"!
Can you believe that she is nearly 14 months old?
Sweetness.

Oh I would never get anything finished with sweet little Evie - she is adorable.
Looks like you have LOTS of fabric.

I tackled one of my stash cupboards today too. I felt so good when I got at least that one area sorted out!

Hang in there, Sinta. You will get organized soon enough. Your little girl is an absolute doll!

And I thought I have a lot of fabric. Looks like some nice fabric there Sinta. Lovely quilts too. Organizing is lots of work but well worth it in the end. Your little granddaughter is the cutest thing.

Oh good. It's not just me. I started yarding things out of my sewing room in an effort to find the top of my cutting table and some other missing things. What used to be my basement family room has been taken over by project bins and boxes from my sewing room. It's going to get worse before it gets better but my sewing room has needed a serious re-org for a LONG time.

Hi! I just did the sewing room thing. I dismantled mine as we are selling our home, and I thought if we returned it to a bedroom, it would help. I was able to give away all my left over fabrics, books and magazines to a newbie quilter. She will donate her leftovers then, to a church group who makes charity quilts.
Good luck, take care, Leslie

Good thing you have a loooooong hallway. But your approach is correct, get everything out of the room then organize it, then put it back. You didn't mention a "find a new home" stack. I think you'll feel better with less, I did.

Evie is adorable, love those bright blue eyes, and her dress, too cute for words!

My car needs washed, but the grass is under control, because we have a lawn service, do you think they would wash my car if I asked?

Enjoy your time with Evie... Before you know it, they turn 30!

I have serious plans to move my sewing space from a teeny tiny room off the kitchen to one of the {now unused} kid's rooms, but of course it requires painting, reorganizing, and moving all the stuff. I have to admit I'm a little overwhelmed... one step at a time, right? First, buy the paint...

Evil time is more precious for sure! I'm sitting here giggling at your hallway. You actually let hubby see all those beautiful fabrics? My hubby might have to sit down if I pulled it all out...oh, wait a minute, he couldn't sit down because his chair would have. Fabric in it...LOL

Okay Sinta, where do I go to get my money back??? I paid the "Quilt Fairy" to come and get your re-org all done and evidently she spent the money on fabric or some such silliness *sigh*...it's hard to find good help these days! *wink*

when you are done, you can come to my house and do the same. :)

Evie is just a doll! :)

Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets overwhelmed with too much stuff and where to put it :) Evie is adorable! I'd say that was time well spent!

Yay for organizing! I need to do more of that too!

I like that I'm not the only one who makes more mess in order to tidy up a mess. You'll get there! Your granddaughter is very cute, beautiful blue eyes.
