I have hopes of catching up with myself soon.
I have made a tiny bit of progress on my Summer Wind, a Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. pattern.
You can see that Thelma at Cupcake n Daisies
has got me beat by a yard... but I am coming along and enjoying the process.
As much as I love the fabric, I am freaking out a little with the color.
I'm going conservative. I think I need some hand holding here!

The next row is ready to go on!
I keep going with bold and then balance with
the light to keep the quilt from running away with color
by the time I get to the last row.
That's my method of madness anyway...
also know as, frugal color theory.
Yes, I seem to be a scaredy cat but I like the word
"conservative" better.
I still remember the disaster I had with Eventide, a quilt along
hosted by Thelma. I still call it my Dear John quilt...
it was a bad relationship, not in the beginning, but got progressively worse.
Do you know what I mean?
Thelma has been very successful with her color choices in Summer Wind...
go take a look.

I think your colors are going to be great! It is scary to step out of the box, isn't it? :-) Happy sewing!
Wow! What a beauty.
I think alternating the bold colors with lighter colors is going to work out well. It looks great so far!
Just keep going with what works for you Carrie! It all comes together in the end, doesn't it?
It is looking really pretty so far!
Looking good! I did mine with a 3 Sisters range a few years back.
I think summer wind is a little bit to confusing and busy just to look at for me and I think the way you are doing it with the grey then color is going to take all that away and look great

A really nice color combo and like you I always go safe with light colors to blend....it looks really great and nice job!
Love the colors of your quilt, not too bright and not to dull either. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see it finished.
I think your color choices look great -- keep it up!!!
Sinta I know what you mean about color choices. I am sewing along with you and Thelma with Halloween fabrics. I have been debating where to put the strong BLACK statement fabric that defined the toes on the bear claws. Since this is a fat quarter quilt, my limitations of fabric will have a hand in guiding my choices.
I think it's very pretty! Keep going!
I can't wait to see how the two quilts turn out. I ran a quick 'errand' to my LQS at lunch time and they had the bolts of High Street in stock. I just wanted to grab them all and say "charge it"!!
I love it :-) Looking good!
I love High Street and debated whether or not to buy some. Well...I'm convinced, and what could be better than one of Carrie's patterns. Your quilt will be lovely.
I love your version of Summer Wind, and your plan of going wild then conservative is perfect. I love looking at yours and think it's amazing and perfect!
