I've Been Canning Already!

I had found this post for making dish towels embellished with
Ball Jars on a blog called Flamingo Toes. She called  it
"Can It".

I thought it was such a cute idea... but since right now all my thoughts
are centered around finishing my quilts for the quilt show...

I used her idea, but made quilt labels instead.
Dish towels will have to wait a little bit.
Here are photos of my process this morning.
(I got up early) I still have some embellishing to do... these are
still in process.

It took me all week to catch up with my "last weekend" goals.
It was Easter and I didn't get much of anything done in my sewing room
at all. However, this week I got  bindings done for 3 quilts. I haven't been able to
get photos of those yet. I have a location in my mind... so it might take me a day or two
to work out the logistics.
I also got
my Milky Way prepared and handed it over to my LAQ.
I finished the border of Dancing Dollies... and will be finishing putting the borders
on that quilt this weekend. My other goal for this weekend is
to get sleeves prepared for my quilts that need them...
which is probably most of them.
It will be a good way to use up fabrics that I'm not so fond of.

A Moment of Play

A couple of weeks ago, when I was on my winning streak...

I won a Crumber ruler from Carol at Carol's Crafty Creations!

Eight-six just became my lucky number!
I was so happy to have won a Crumbler...
because, although I had purchased a couple of them from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.
I had given both of them away!
It's a funny thing... because one of the winners of the Crumbler
was Carol!

Is that one of those...
what goes around comes around kind of things?

Either way, lucky me!
So, I finally allowed myself a few minutes to play with it.
Although I would love to use it on my scraps, I thought that I could
get much farther with my few minutes by just cutting into a charm pack.
Here is what I ended up with... but I'm not done playing. I want to
experiment with a few different configurations.
Because that's just how I play!

I do see some other playing out there on the horizon!

BOM REHAB & A Hat Trick

NO, not that hat trick!
This Hat Trick...
Yes, it is that time!
Woohoo! Yippee! Hooray!
Hot Diggity Dog!

I am excited to announce the first pattern for
Another Year of Schnibbles...
Sherri at A Quilting Life and I are starting off the new year of Schnibbles projects
with what we refer to as
"Vintage Schnibbles".

Hat Trick was my very first Schnibbles pattern/kit.
I am so happy to have finally made it! I used my kit, and if you recognise the
fabric you will see how vintage it is! I think it was the very first line
of fabric from Bunny Hill.
So, Bunny Hill. Bunny. Hat Trick, Easter. April Fools day.
See how that worked out?

Another Year of Schnibbles you ask? For those of you who
haven't played along before let me tell you.
This is how it works:
The first of each month Sherri and I will show you a Schnibbles pattern
that we made. On the first day of the following month we have a parade of
the completed Schnibbles pattern of yours. It doesn't even have to be quilted.
It's just that easy.
In this case, on May 1st we will have a parade of Hat Trick.
Sherri shows half of the parade on her blog and I show half of the quilts
on my blog.

So, what do you say?
Are you ready to join in?
I will be excited to see our alumni Schnibblers again...
I've missed you! Seriously!

Let me know if you are going to play along...
I would love to add your blog link to my sidebar if you are.
Hat Trick Schnibbles Charm Pack Pattern Miss Rosie's Quilt Company Schnibbles Pattern #RQC-411
Here is the pattern... (and they are on sale over at FQS too).
Or, if you want it right this minute...
Carrie has the PDF version available in her web store.
To get started you will need 55 charms and 1/8 of a yard of inner border fabric.
Bam! You're in business!

I have to slip in a photo of  baby Blake... a precious 1 week old.

and one of Miss Evie Lou Who,

Scrumptious!

I finally got my FQS Designer Mystery out and made a block. I had already cut it out, so
it was easy enough to make. I was just lucky that non of the pieces were missing... as sometimes happens when you put a project on the back burner for a length of time.

It was a nice way to ease back into my DM project. I
have 10 blocks now-- I have made 5 of the months now,
in
duplicate.
Did you manage to check into BOM Rehab this week?
It's always exciting to see what you have been working on!

Scrap Basket Sunday

It was a last minute kind of thing... I had been trying to catch up on some blog reading and
I started reading a past post from Kim's Big Quilt Adventure.
She's starting a Scrap Basket Club?
I wanted to ignore it... as I had just made a promise to myself not to start something new!

Don't you hate it when you make those kind of promises?
It's one thing to think them but once you say it out loud...
you're kind of committed.
So on my last post I simply meant to do a shout out about
the club... but then I started thinking about a bag of scraps that
I unearthed earlier this month.
And thinking about a friend of mine, there was a quilt that she made that I am in love with
... which I posted about
recently also.
That's when I caved in.
I have this book, Scrappy Fireworks from Edyta Sitar.
I flip through it constantly.
So, yesterday I woke up and decided I was going to join in!
So I grabbed that bag of scraps and started cutting.

Here is my progress.
I made an even dozen of the 4 1/2" blocks.
Recently a quilt shop, In Between stitches, offered this quilt as a
block of the week. They would send out fabric every week, enough to
make 12 blocks. So, I'm kind of going with their plan.
In 10 weeks I will have the 120 blocks needed.
But since I obviously don't stick to the plans I make...
I might get it done faster.
Because there are more quilts in the book I want to make...
all with SCRAPS!

Thanks Kim for letting me join in!
