No Snuggling, But A Little Swooning Going On

I have been M.I.A. for a while now...
from blogland and my sewing room.
Sewing is definitely a happy place for me,
and I just can't create
at all while under stress.

My poor DH has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks in the ICU unit.
I didn't want to share much before...
but now it seems that we are mostly over the hurdle
and he is on a slow road to getting better.

The surgery was actually planned, and as my hubby prepared, I prepared
mentally and just to be safe,
I colored my hair prior to going!
Seriously.
Anyway, I want to thank everyone who knew and sent us extra prayers
and good wishes.
We have an army of angels on our team and are so very thankful for that!
So, even though there are still many
days ahead of special care for my DH,
I can exhale a little
and give a sigh of relief now.

So no snuggling for me this year yet...
but I did finally enter my sewing room, last night, brushed away some of the cob webs (kidding)
and embarked on my first block of Swoon!

I am using Nine Dot by Carrie Nelson.
Does it bother you to see the little stripes going
in different directions in
a block?

Here are some of the other color combos I have picked.

Oh,  and I did make this little sampler
from Temecula Quilt Co.  Twelve Days of Christmas Mystery.

Your projects are so beautiful! I've been doing the exact same sewing as you... I just posted about my Swoon block, and my 12 Days top is waiting for me to get around to quilting it.

I'll pray for your husband and for you! I'm glad to hear that the hard part is behind you both.

Take care, Kimberly

Reading your post, it is understandable that you were mia and certainly a stressful period for you. Good to hear DH is over the hurdle and I will be sending positive energy your way

I am so happy to hear that things are going well for your DH. I have been praying all the while, and will continue to do so!

Beautiful blocks, Sinta! And no, the lines going in different directions didn't bother me a bit....in fact, I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. I think they just flow!

XOXO,

Cyndi

Take care, both of you...and hope you get some more sewing time in soon.

Good to hear that things are looking good! The lines going different directions don't bother me, I think because it's a smaller scale print, it actually adds a bit of movement.

I certainly know what you have been going through and will for awhile. Do hope all goes well with hubby;s recovery. Getting in the quilt room and making blocks as you did always gets rid of that stress.
Your block is great and also your little Mini.

Blessings to your hubby. That is a long time to hold vigil in an ICU unit. I am glad you were able to take a little break and let yourself create for a spell. Your block looks great. (The direction of the strips doesn't bother me a bit, and you know, once it is machine quilted you will notice it even less!) Swoon is my 2012 goal and I'm having a disaster of a time choosing my fabrics. Such a hard decision! I actually just bought some of that Carrie Nelson fabric the other day, and I agree that those will make a lovely Swoon!

Best wishes for a continued road to recovery for your husband. My prayers will be with your family as he regains strength and good health. You take care of you too!

Prayers for your DH! I am torn on the same direction. I like order and 'planed' chaos! LOL But we are each our own artist!
